I can't believe it! He asked for toast,
"Brown bread, if you have it, and btw, I don't like marge..."
Mrs Red made it for him, and now he's complaining?

I'm not condoning the cheating, but should the News of the World be offering people money to cheat in the first place?

I really dislike this entrapment thing Tom, (ditto with John Higgins), but yielding to temptation, or not, as the case may be, is all about moral fibre & honesty, so it's not clear cut either way.
There is a truly fabolous piece in today's Times by Simon Barnes, in which he despises those who led the 18 year old bowling prodigy Mohammed Amir up the wrong road. The kid is awesome, a true world great, but is barely old enough to shave, & his point is that those who tempted & tainted him are the real culprits. As so often happens, he got in with the wrong bunch, & one bad apple has amazing toxicity.
I hope Amir can eventually be allowed to stay in cricket (assuming he gets himself banned & serves it out sensibly), & shown the error of his ways by better counsel. If he comes clean straight away, fesses up properly, & shows remorse, who would not support his rehabilitation?
In the meantime, it's such a sad day for Cricket, & for Pakistan, where cricket means so much, particularly right now.
I hope readers can find the piece by Simon Barnes in The Times, it's well worth a look. Sadly, The Times Online is now behind a paywall, so I'm struggling to link it.

Precisely my point. They are corrupting him for their own financial gain, it makes no difference if that gain comes from placing a bet or selling newspapers.

Wow! we've got some really angry wasps here at the moment. They don't appear to like being swatted, they go straight in to attack mode.
They're really impatient too, banging on the window with their little fists instead of waiting until someone leaves it open.
I think it's because the weather is getting cooler. (It'll be winter soon folks, the last horse home in the St Leger carries winter on it's back)

WASPS
Facts about wasps
There are two types of wasp commonly found in the UK, the Common Wasp and the German Wasp. But occasionally the European wasp appears. Right now, most of them are tormenting RED-DOG.
The queens hibernate during the winter, in buildings or under the bark of trees. In spring the queens look for nesting sites such a hole in the ground, a hollow tree or in spaces within the eaves of a building, lofts, attics and garden sheds etc. where she will build her nest with a papery material that she makes by chewing small pieces of wood mixed with saliva.
In the nest she will raise a few workers and these will start to enlarge the nest and help to rear the next generation of wasps. Nest construction starts in earnest in June and will usually reach it’s maximum in size in September.
Worker wasps will look for food up to 400 metres from the nest. They feed mainly on sugary materials such as nectar.
The size of wasp colonies will vary from year to year, but at its maximum nests may contain between five to ten thousand wasps.
In the autumn, the young queens mate and leave the nest to hibernate, the rest of the nest dies out and the nest is never used again.

Also, why do some people say wosp instead of wasp?
Are there any poker-playing wasps?

Colin, the poker playing wasp was turned away from the Luton G for a shoe related dress-code violation.

I kinda reject Amir being influenced as a defence. Any kid growing up playing sport will be influenced by their heroes and will dream about playing for their country. Amir would have grown up in difficult conditions dreaming about playing cricket for Pakistan. But as soon as he achieves that dream he flogs the honour for a few quid. I don't think the fact he's been influenced to make that decision makes him any less responsible for it. Protecting the integrity of honest sporting achievement should be something we are all serious about, if not sport becomes a farce. If we are really bothered about the influencing of young kids Amir should be banned for life, thus influencing every future star. You shouldn't be allowed to represent your country in sport if you sell that priviledge. Cheating in sport is usually to gain some advantage for yourself and I can almost understand that. Dwain Chambers took drugs because he was desperate to win, Maradonna punched the ball in cos he was desperate to win, Amir cheated for money.
Incidentally, only the female wasp stings. Seems about right.

See, I resisted that open goal.
BTW- Albert made the ft @ Luton. When asked about his performance he replied "I was buzzing".

Miners allowed one minute each to speak to relatives. Why only one minute?
mp3 players sent down. I wonder who chose the songs, and if they screened out the ones like 'Going underground' and 'I want to break free' etc?
