Broken News....

My LPG bottle changeover valve, which automatically connects to a full gas bottle when the old one is empty, (Thereby preventing Mrs Red from freezing while I'm at DTD) has stopped working.

Cost of replacement, £107.

A bloke at DTD said to me, "I read everything on blonde, except that bloody Vagueness diary".

"WTF is it about anyway?"

Dilemma.

Option 1: Buy new valve from local store for £107.

Pros: I can have it today, and I can take it back if it doesn't work.

Cons: It's expensive.

Option 2: http://campingandcaravandirect.co.uk/Regulators--Hose/Compact-100-Propane-Changeover-Valve/p-107-501/

Pros: It's cheap.

Cons: I can't have it today, and I can't take it back if it doesn't work.

Have both?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LPG-change-over-valve_W0QQitemZ140373216756QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories?hash=item20aee54df4

Item in Nottingham - £25, buy online, pick-up there, then head to DTD!

FFS! How did you find that?

I've been and gone and ordered the other one now.

Just typed 'changeover valve' into Ebay search, then put 'Leicester' (was just a guess where you lived) as my location and search nearest items...  Cheesy

I would consider canceling the one I ordered, but the bloke at the other end was ever so nice, he bent over backwards to help me, and he made a special effort to get it dispatched in time for delivery tomorrow.

I will learn this lesson though. Ebay ftw.

I've found people are usually more than happy to let you pick items up as long as pay online 1st, afterall it saves them the hassle of sorting out postage etc.  Also, just save a postcode local to yourself on there, and every time you search it will bring up the mileage how far away it is, very useful for non-postable large items.

Don't the distance sales regulations exist anymore?

I thought UK based companies who sell over telephone and t'internet are required by law to give you full refundage if you decide within 28 days that you don't like something.

Yeah, you get 7 days in which you can just send it back for a refund without having to give a reason.

Yes that's true. What I meant to say is I would have to fanny about for several days rather than just walking back in to a local shop.

Well I don't know about confidence restored, but when things are going bad, I do think it helps to stop and take a step back instead of just putting your head down and barrelling on into Skintville.
