the very last line caught me for a hop. Is he threatening to pull the plug? If so...WHY?!
Government cuts.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the only one who's in danger of having his plug pulled. Better heads than mine have rolled already.

Say hello to Melty. The latest member of our family.
I wonder how long he'll be staying?

Which one is he? The one with the scarf or the handsome one with the tache?

You are almost invisible in that camaflouge jacket Tom, despite your 4 bag bulk.
How big are those girls now? Remind me of their names, & "who they belong to", please.
I'm worried about the Moles in this dreadful weather - are they OK? Will you be giving them a little Xmas pressie?

If I stood sideways, I would practically disappear.

One of them comes up to Melty's shoulder. the other just below his armpit.

Oh yes. I'm considering giving them something that will solve all their problems...

Senility is fast taking hold when I cannot spell a simple 10 letter word. Marv.
I must have skipped dotage & moved straight to senility.

How long is it since you two have seen each other?
You seem to be flirting much stronger then usual - absence making the heart grow fonder?

Very good read Sir.
I've not seen Tom for months, & although we usually chat on the 'phone once or twice a week, usually for up to 2 hours, like a pair of old women, even that has been infrequent for the last month.
Tom works now, too, & I usually seem to catch him at the wrong moment when I 'phone him, & vice-versa. We spoke a couple of days ago, I think, but yes, I do feel rather bad that work is interfering with things more than I'd like, & I do feel a tad conscience-stricken that I'm ignoring my special mate, given that you ask.
Having said that, part of Tom's attraction as a special friend - & he's far & away the best & closest friend I have - is that he understands me, understands when I'm a bit phased out with work &/or worry, & uses the baa baa black sheep approach - he knows I'll talk to him when I'm ready, & he applies no pressure to me. Just a few subtle hints sometimes, to say "I'm here when you are ready", that's all.
Superb read, Sir.
I'll tell you a scary thing now. He can read me like a book, & he knows exactly what I am thinking when I write the occasional cryptically phrased Post.
Here's a little test/proof of that.
I just wrote a very awkward & difficult Post on the "Funding future blonde/DTD Live Updates" Thread. I bet he understands exactly the message I was sending, or trying to send.
I'll tell you another very weird thing.
I went to America several times on Management Courses, & won the AMA Gold Award 3 years running I think. Long time ago, of course. I learned some interesting stuff there about psychology, & the human psyche, & it served me well in business. In some areas, people skills & psychology, I was head & shoulders above anyone else. One of these areas involves the body language of human beings, & I'm "pretty cute" at it. Tom, never had a minute of "proper education" in his life, is 50 light years ahead of me in that area, though.
And finally, if you want to see something really comical, watch when Tom & I enter a Restaurant, or Food Hall, or pub, or whatever, together, & see what happens.....it's like that moment when the music stops in "Musical Chairs", both fighting for that "special seat". If I cannot sit "just so", I have to leave. Tom is identical - he HAS to have a certain seat. And it's the same seat......

I don't mind if we don't manage to meet up, really I don't. I just like to check that you're OK. (You wouldn't say anything if you'd had you're head amputated)
Still, I have my spies.....
BTW- I didn't know about this..

Bet you never knew I've been suffering with some sort of eye-problem for over a week? Don'y worry, plenty of peeps have been nagging me about it, sigh.
AMA = American Management Association. Very prestigious in those days, not so now I would imagine.
Courses were held all over America, but I could choose which one to attend, so I chose San Francisco 3 years running.
I flew out by Pan Am - long deceased now! - & I stayed at the InterContinental (as was) at the very top of "Nob Hill". Nob Hill is featured in that Steve McQueen Movie - Bullitt? - where the cars race down the "ramped road", & it's at the very top of where the Cable Cars go.
John Kirkland sent me for 2 weeks each time, (this would be mid-eighties I guess) even though the course was only 4 days. Three days to acclimatise & settle, & prepare to do the Course justice, the 4 day course, then a 7 day "unwind" & Holiday.
Funding for the courses was huge - $3,000 per Course, plus flight & hotel costs, plus
per diems
. Call it $5k - & this was 30 years ago. JNK had some business interests in the USA which made him a lot of money, money which he either paid tax on, or used in the USA, hence the bizarrely expensive Courses. Incredibly, one of the things we - B & K - did, was build Breweries, & we built one in Milwaukee of all places. How that came about, a Company in Belper, Derbyshire, building Breweries in the US of A, is another story, altogether, for another day.
The Courses were addressed by the then uber Management Guro of the day, a man called Tom Peters - google him - & were awesome.
I was never so proud or pleased of myself. (At the time). Could not read or write at 13, loading lorries at 17, & winning Management Awards galore by my mid-thirties. Yes yes yes, I was proud.
Brekkie at that Hotel was like $25 - a HUGE sum to me in those days, so I'd walk down Nob Hill to a regular "diner" & pay a dollar-99 for the best brekkie you could imagine. I adored San Frasncisco, adored it.
I can remember every day of those trips as if they were yesterday. I still have the the AMA Plaques somewhere.
Jeez, that was 30 years ago. Where did my life go?
