Tom, was running the other morning along a quiet road that goes out to a village called Lambley.  Anyway, as I was running, I saw three very small birds sat on the grass maybe about 10 feet in front of me and a few feet to the left.  As I got closer I could see that they were Goldcrests.

When I was about 5 feet from them, all three took to the wing at the same time, then landed - keeping the distance from me at about 10 feet.  As I continued running, they repeated this about half a dozen times, and it was like they were accompanying me for a while on my run.  Amazing little birds and great to be so close to them.  Was the highlight of my run that morning, and as they then decided to fly off to get some peace I was watching them so intently I nearly tripped over a hole in the path.

Loads of peeps still PMing answers to the x word.

most correct answers are from Londoners. (Boshi the most recent)

One blonde has sent in about 30 wrong answers. I think he's just picking random places from the phone book.

(He's from Scotland)

Goldcrests are tiny. Most peeps don't even see them.

Story would have been better if you had actually fallen over......

I thought they were very young finches or something at first, but when I got closer I could see their distinctive crests and could see they were fully 'grown' adults.  Really beautiful and a running hazard! The pot-hole in the path was fairly large and obvious if I'd been watching where I was going.  As it was, I got lucky and my foot caught the edge and I could adjust my stride in time. It did make be laugh though and I had a quick glance round to see if anyone had spotted me running like someone who doesn't quite have control of their limbs.

You at DTD tonight or this weekend at all?

For those of you who, like me, couldn't solve the crossword clue, the answer was Islington.

What a week that was. Very intense, emotional and insanely busy.

Glad to see the back of it.
