The word was "Ignominious" (She thinks I made it up).

I can't for the life of me remember what I was talking about when I said it though. You have to remind me, it's doin me ed in now.

We were talking about the 'copter man, and "ladging" would have surficed. x

"Would have done" would have done, but you used "Sufficed".

That really is a great pic. Imagine how those prisoners felt looking at that view?

Did you do the audio tour Guy?

Yes Tom I did. I dont like to over sell things like this, just incase people have different tastes, but for me Alcatraz is the best tourist attraction I have ever been too.

I love how the audio tour was both informative, but also sets an atmosphere. When you are there you can feel the desperation.

I loved the work out yard and the "steps". Like you say, looking out over to SF must have been a daily agony

It only costs 9 bucks to take the ferry across the bay to Sausalito, and that must be one of the most beautiful boat rides ever.

I had to do that ride every day for 6 months at uni Smiley such is life. My wife is from sausalito / Mill Valley, did you enjoy the place?

Been in Yosemite National Park for two days, no cell phone signal and no Wifi for 200 miles in any direction. The park is immense, I can't get over the scale of it.

Glacier point, Bridal Veil Falls, The Half Dome, it's all so... well, just insert your own superlatives here.

(Someone Google some pics and post em for the girls).

At the end of the first day, our plan was to drive clear of the park to the first town and find a motel. We thought it would be about 20 miles. Try 120, and then we only found a very small, one horse type town.

We came out the other side of Yosemite today via the Tioga pass, then we drove through the desert for several hours. The temperature was touching 100 degrees and the road was absolutely dead straight, so we turned the air con up full, tied the steering and went to sleep on the back seat.

OK, I lied. We didn't sleep.

We ended up in somewhere called Bishop CA, in a Motel 6 eating MoonPies.

Tomorrow, Death Valley via Denneys.

So glad you liked Yesomite.

For us personally we regretted Death Valley, just hours of driving really. I think your hours driving would have been better spent heading back towards the coastal drive through Morro Bay and down to Palm Springs. More to see plus you could then take in Laughlin, very cheap rooms, then drive through Oatman and back to Vegas.
