Spent an hour with this bloke today. He told me some great stories.

http://www.leicester.gov.uk/oneleicester/downloads/posters/edmond-isaac.pdf

You mentioned him to me 4 or 5 years ago Tom, & since then, I always stop & chat with him when at Leicester Station.

Always happy, always smiling, time for everyone, & ALWAYS with really shiny shoes.

So much to admire about him, happy with his lot in life, & tries to make others happy, too.

So much to be said for smiling.

I read a little about him on another (Not poker) forum. Someone commented:

"45 years without missing a days work. What a sad bastard."

Read this interesting article earlier today. Thought this thread was the most high-brow in which to share it.

"sad bastard", because he enjoys his work, & his life!

Given that we spend half our waking life at work, I'd have said enjoying one's job was pretty important.

I'm not completely sad, only about 95%, as I only managed 40 years work without a day off.

Let them mock all they like.

Quality linking Mr 3103.

I love your word 'pulchritudinous' (Had to look it up.)

I love Vicky's line 'Given 103 years to play with, the diem would hardly need carping.'

And I love the whole 'How people cope/ don't cope' with time's winged chariot subject.

Thank you.

Having 20 minutes to spare, and being about a week behind with the 'Tips for tikay' thread, I decided to catch up on the bits that interest me.

I now have 19 minutes and 45 seconds to spare.

Yesterday, he told me what he he wants to do when he retires.

I bet you can't guess.

I hope you managed to unwhoosh yourself about ice-creams during your sojourn.

Work?

EDIT - Nah, strike that, it'd be really really stupid, retiring, & then going back to work. Only a fool would do that.

Invest 30 seconds in my Diary then, there was - I think - a heart-warming piece in there yesterday. Only took me 2000 pages to finally post something so good.

Haha. Yes. he wants to do voluntary work. Helping people less fortunate than himself.
