Newbury Racecourse's Best Dressed Gent. And What?

Reason for alias: It's my name, and I'm perfectly happy with people knowing who I am.

Age: 26

Occupation: High net worth gaming acquisitions.

Location: Wimbledon.

Dream Job: I genuinely don't know. Something which, whilst fulfilling and stimulating, permits me to spend quality time with my friends and family, travel, and ultimately provide well for a family myself. Is this really asking so much?!

Person you would be reincarnated as: Mick Jagger.

Fave comfort food: I love a Chinese take away.

Imaginary super power: This will sound horrendously twee and vomit-inducing...but I like it when others around me are happy. I'd like to be able to do induce this, not in a temporary, false kind of way, but genuinely be able to help others out. Yep, its horrendous. Flying probably. But seriously quickly - this way you essentially nail the whole teleportation issue and, if we're being optimistic here, time travel if you did enough laps.

Is that your full name Ed? I always imagine you with several forenames, like Edward Aloysius Bartholomew Gascoigne or something.

High net worth gaming acquisitions?
Surely that can't possibly be as much fun as it sounds.

No I'm an Edward. Nothing exotic in the middle. Nothing to see there at all....* Re: the day job.... it has its moments.

*My middle name is 'Kemp', which is my mother's maiden name. Others at school always found this hilarious because they thought it sounded like 'camp'. Oh the fun we had....

Reason for alias: Pretty obvious, first name is George, however I use email a lot in my job and have always signed off as Geo (it's not just on forum posts.) Most of my workmates call me Geo as opposed to George because of this. I left the Army at the rank of Sergeant. The user name came from before I joined the forum, I was travelling to a team poker event with some friends and we were talking about what poker nicknames we would give each other for the tourney. A mate of mine Neil McGrory (Glorious on blonde) asked what rank I held in the Army and then tagged me as Geo the Sarge

Age: 52

Occupation: Pensions trainer, SME

Location: Edinburgh

Dream Job: I haven't a clue. As I had no qualifications as I didn't finish school, I had to wait about a year to join the Army as an "adult" soldier, I was always going to go the Army from an early age. I spent 6 months as a Trawler deckhand during this time and absolutely loved it, although it was the hardest thing I've ever done.

Person you would be reincarnated as: Myself but without the mistakes

Fave comfort food: Canny beat a good cuppa

Imaginary super power: I actually hold a super power and believe you hold the same, I am a grandad.

I went to an Oral History training event in Leicester today. We were given advice on how to conduct and record interviews without 'tainting' them with our own views.

There was loads to learn, but it was fascinating.

I made notes on my phone (my handwriting is terrible) now I have to write them up properly before I forget what they mean.

East Midlands oral history website /youtube. .

Who will record.

Conveyor belt interview or individual? How many?

Who will you record?

Gender sensitive.

Say Record, not interview.

Ask about Home. Meals. Ralationships. leisure. Class. School. Work. Marrage. Family life.

Use Broad topics. Bullet points.

Show topics first.

Ambition.

Brainstorming first.

Dicide topics or life history.

Life history will need several visits.

Introduce recording.

Year of birth.

Say you're recording, mention disclaimer.

Wear your knowledge lightly.

Eye contact nodding. Less voice prompts.

Look intsrested.

Open questions. Who what where when why.

What breakfast? Did you have eggs? I bet breakfast was nice.

Tone. That must have been terrible.

How. What did you think.

Best and worst. Favourite.

General to specific. Probing. Encourage details.

Ask for description and examples.

Memorable events.

Tiredness.

Sound editing software Audacity.

Never edit your master copy.

Copyright. It's your recording, but

Transcribe or summarise.

Audio trail.

I've been hoping you would pop in and do one of these Geo. I knew if you did, I would find at least one pearl of wisdom.

Reason for alias: Because I sure am as angelic as the name suggests.

Age: 48

Occupation: Train Guard or modern  name Train Conductor

Location: Huddersfield

Dream Job: Tester for Ann Summers

Person you would be reincarnated as: My Husband, reason being he has the most laid back outlook on life takes everything in his stride and nothing phases him.

Imaginary super power: Healer

Maureen you tart!

I can't tell you how many times you've left me feeling aroused and chastised all at the same time.

I'm sure you do it in purpose.

Say hello to Darren for me.

Are you or have you ever been a Tory MP, or the head of a worldwide Motor Racing Organisation Tom?

Let me just say this, and I want to be absolutely clear. I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave last time I was asked.

Occupation: Pensions trainer, SME

Location: Edinburgh

I used to work for Scottish Equitable and travelled up to Edinburgh a few times, as I was a trainee consultant and later a broker consultant.  I don't recall anyone in training called George though.

Is SME who you work for?  I'm told the industry is having difficult times at the moment with further reform on the financial advice side.

SME =  Subject Matter Expert

I work for Scot Widows, it has been very difficult these last few years due to so many legislation changes. However it keeps me in work as I have to make sense of it all and put training programmes/roll outs together then deliver to existing staff as well as new starts.

I've hardly had time to myself for the past 3 years due to the constant re-jigging of the group, changes in legislation etc etc.
