Incredible photos. Hated the write up though, is it aimed at kids?
Weird thing, spiders and insects dont bother me in the least, but I couldn't eat my breakfast whilst looking at them. Think I might stick a few pics to the fridge.

Aimed at not just kids - but American kids.... who seem to need everything simplified if you go by this.

I'm absolutely sure that Americans, by and large, are no less intelligent than than the rest of us. So why the hell is everything  dumbed down so much for them?

American TV shows start by explaining, in words and pictures, everything you are going to see over the next hour. Then, before every advert break they remind you what you are going to see in the next segment, and at the end of every advert break they remind you of what you saw in the previous segment.

It's the ultimate in spoilers coupled with the ultimate in patronisation.

I don't know Red - even when I was a kid, the difference in the TV programmes when I moved back to Scotland was huge. US TV (which was what we got in Bermuda) was Circle Square Club (a 'kids' religious show by televangelists , aimed at catching kids waiting for the cartoons that followed), then an hour of roadrunner etc. UK TV with programmes like Blue Peter, Why Don't You etc where they atually talked about things were great and so much more interesting over here (although there could have been some more cartoons too  ).

Even American documentaries on the Discovery channel seem 'dumbed down' or 'sexed up' compared to the UK versions.

Ditto The FBI Files and many others.

Good point, wish I knew the answer - it can't just beTV executives in the UA understimate their audiences.

Often times, those docu shows are replayed in classrooms.  Don't know if this is the reason for their 'simplicity', but I do know some teachers prefer to put on the telly besides actually speaking to their students.  Back in the day, we thought we'd hit the lotto when we stumbled across a teacher like that.  Reason 181 why I'm glad my kids received a European education.
