Settle a debate for me - consistent vs persistent
Consistent - Unchanging in achievement or effect over a period of time.
Persistent - Continuing firmly or obstinately in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition
Much of a difference really?

I want to watch it. I really do. But I got 59 seconds in when my eyes glazed over. So I paused it for a bit. After a wee break, I pressed play again and stuck it out until 6:01. My persistence sucks in this case.

There is a difference. Persistent is a decision to continue a course of action when others might rather you didn't; consistent could be a single action but over a long period, need not be against any resistance and is generally goal-related.
"I have failed my driving test ten times"
"Well at least you're consistent"
"I've told the bloke at Alfa Romeo I'm coming in the second I pass and I'm taking it again next week"
"I admire your persistence!"

Is persistence not goal related and therefore they're effectively the same?

Sorry. 1 in the morning and I did a whoopsie. Consistent is less likely to be goal related as the consistency is the goal itself; persistence is a means to an end.
The motivation is a good way of telling the difference, I suppose, in that respect.

Hi Dreenie.
I can't see the picture from that link. What kind of puppy is it?
Is it really cute or are you just saying that because it's a little fluffy baby with big eyes and floppy ears?

Another chapter in my quest to prove that as a member of the most advanced species on the planet, I can use my position at the top of the evolutionary ladder to exert my will over lesser creatures.
So far I've beaten the wasps, and managed a 6 all draw with the moles, but I'm losing miserably to this.......

why is the horse difficult Tom?
Is it yours?
What do you want the horse to do?
Do you trade horses?

I don't trade horses these days, but I have to admit to having been sorely tempted to buy the occasional 'worthless' colt foal and run it on for a couple of years.
This is Dolly, my son-in-law's waggon horse. She comes to stay with me during the summer.
She's absolutely bomb-proof when she's working, but when she's off duty she's difficult because it amuses her.
I want her to stop making a fool of me.
I have been known to use her name and the words 'Tesco' and 'Glue factory' in the same sentence.

I may have mentioned turning them into 'rugs' as I was cleaning up the carnage left by the boys yesterday.
What's she been doing to make you look a fool? We want tales!

Horse story later. Danger of blasphemy if I post too soon.
I'm currently dithering about going to DTD for the 1pm flight.
