Any future comments on the rate my fry up thread will be read with my eyebrows raised.

Serious question, doesn't fakeon have the same problems healthwise as bacon?  I guess microwaving it is going to be better than frying, but guess you can get round that by microwaving bacon too?  I have never microwaved bacon, and have no idea how it comes out.

FWIW It is pretty hard to find bacon or ham without nitrates, but parma ham should never have them, and I bet it makes decent fakeon.

I daren't put that breakfast on RMFU, Spacefrog would tear me a new connard.

I'm sure the ham has just as many drawbacks as bacon but there is so much less of it than there would be in a couple of rashers of bacon. (approx 50 cals vs 150 cals)

quick question..

To get to this point,

a - how many cups of tea were consumed?
b- How much cake / bacon sarnies ?
c- as a guess how many swear words were used?

So when I thought about how many swear word I used I though,"Fuck me, it must have been loads" but then I realised that wouldn't give you an accurate impression of how I feel doing something like this.

Whatever your field, job, lifestyle etc, I guarantee you that as you progress through life, you will start to appreciate the experience you have accumulated and you will enjoy using it.

I could cite you a dozen examples of blonde members who's vast and ever growing store of experience in various situations shines through in their posts and even though they may nor consciously realise it, using that experience, even, (or perhaps especially) during some difficult task will enhance their enjoyment of life immensely.

Bollocks! Suddenly I have to pop out. More drivel later.

Microwaves can have an unstable effect on fat so it probably wouldn't be recommended; besides which the healthiest way of cooking bacon is to grill it anyway (as long as there's space for the fat to drip off it).

Related to the calorie content - I suspect that bacon tends to have a much higher fat content so that's why the ham should be generally healthier.

Had to go to Derby and miss my lunch. Now that I'm here I have to wait a  hour.

Luckily I know an old stylee cafe that does a great steak pie & chips.

So between us we had a reasonably healthy lunch, which means I can afford to have a mince pie or two after tea.

I've driven a few bastardised monstrosities at banger races or off roader meets Ralph but I've never owned one thank goodness.

That looks like the biggest pile of corruption I've ever seen.

Before I get into the swearing, can I just go back to the bacon sarnies.

Now I love bacon, but being a modern, trendy, clean living type of guy, I know I can't eat it all the time, but when I told you I had eggs on toast for breakfast, that wasn't entirely accurate.

What I had, in fact what I have about three times a week is this.

First I put two very thin slices of ham on to a plate. This is my bacon substitute. 'Fakeon' I call it.

I pop that into the microwave for about two minutes and at the same time I put two slices of seeded wholemeal into the toaster and fry two eggs over-easy in a pre heated pan that has been wiped with a smidgen of olive oil.

The microwave dings, the toast pops up, and the eggs are ready all at the same time. (If something is more than ten seconds late I'm very disappointed with myself)

Then I plate it all up and voilĂ  - Fakeon & eggs on toast.
