A friend of mine, one of those gravely-voiced London geezers, told me of a complaint his 8yo daughter made about her brother.

"Daaaaad! Ee's lookin' a me...   fru his eyes."

This seems like quite a big thing to me.

Wood burners: Sale of coal and wet wood restricted in England

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-56949426

Just the first step to cleaner domestic heating.

Give it a few years and new gas boilers will be outlawed then slowly phased out completely.

Won't be long before everyone has an air source heat pump bolted to the side of their house. They'll look delightful.....

Lighting the fire and mending internal combustion engines was my forte. I'll be useless soon at this rate.

Good job I got old when I did really.

Fifteen years from now walking through a city centre could feel the same on your lungs as walking through the countryside.

It's hard to imagine because the city 'smell' seems normal but without the cars and heaters pumping out noxious fumes how else could it be?

McDonalds maybe??

I agree that it's a good thing.

As a kid growing up in Sheffield the air was so bad you couldn't breath it unless you filtered it through a fag.

It looks quite interesting though. (Mind you everywhere is interesting if you go armed with a bit of history)

Mrs Red & I might give it a once over and report back.

Very ordinary place but well located and surrounded by deece countryside, villages and small towns.

Cast iron offer of a solid cuppa if you're ever in the vicinity, could run to a sandwich too :-)

Pretty famous landmark, together with the Kodak building that's about it

Live less than a mile from that roundabout - what a day out

Have a look at the magic roundabout in Swindon. Pretty similar level of craziness.

As someone who went to school in Bassett and college in Swindon my life has followed magic roundabouts.

The Swindon one is much tougher to negotiate when you hit it for the first time, mind you I was 17 on a moped so that might be a factor

Sounds almost as dangerous as 18 with a bullet.
