In fairness they look bloody lovely, but we debated for hours last week before they flowered as to which they were and decided to hang fire pulling them. We was wondering how they had spread so fast.

I have a small 'proper' garden with 'proper' flowers in it (roses, bulbs and all sorts of things), but when the buttercups start coming up through the flat bed carnations, I'm lonesome pulling them out.  Have wee bud vases on the kitchen window sill and they always go there before they end up in our compost bin.  Nice to know I'm not the only one who appreciates the beauty of something that others consider weeds.

That's a very evocative phrase Lax, where does it come from?

Weeds you say Tom.   Nun goes out to weed a 3rd of her front garden bed.

Hold fast Maureen. I don't understand why some plants are called weeds and others are called flowers.

A rose by any other name....

A weed is any plant growing in a place you wish it wasn't.

If that's true, mine aren't weeds.

I guess it's Irish because I never said things like that before I met Timothy.

And you're technically right Andrew.  So from now on, I let them grow and gather them for arrangements, regardless of what the locals think...because I think they're pretty.

I didn't know they were buttercups. I thought they were the annoying things that turn up on the lawn next to the daisies.

Just remembered an event from blackpool but couldn't remember the crux of it so...

Drunk wanders up to the cash game. And after a few minutes noticed Tom at the end of the table.

Drunk "Hello, you look familiar"
Tom "Yes, I'm sure I do"
Drunk "Yeah, you look like someone famous"
Tikay, Maria, RichEO "giggles"
Tom "I've heard them all before"
Tom (to us not to drunk) "Whoever he says I'll have had it before"
Drunk "You look like x"
Tom "Who?"

Now, forgotten the name Tom, who was it and have you looked up a pic yet?

LOOOL!!!

I forgot that too. I was all smug knowing he couldn't compare me to anyone with a tash that I haven't been compaired to before.... And then he did!

It took the wind right out of my sails.
