Oy! Boldie, Andrew, Tighty! Less of that googling on this thread. If Rookie finds out, he'll tear us a new asshole. (Each)
I make no such apology in this particular case. The accuracy (?) of my facts is proof indeed.
Step aside, I'm a-heading google's way.

I don't think Wakeman was ever in Genesis.
for overblown 1970s supergroups= Pig over Battersea Power station Floyd. Unsurpassed!
Surely "Emerson Lake & Palmer" must be right up there?
One of John Peel's most hated bands - some argue the excesses of ELP were directly responsible for punk. When touring, ELP had so much stage gear they used three juggernauts to transport it across America. Each truck had one of the names of the band on its roof, so from the air it looked like each member had one truck each.
And Red-Dog - this is all from memory. I have a dark prog rock fascination. Wait till we move on to German or Dutch prog...
Were you into "Deep Purple"? How bad were they?
Give me "Mouldy Old Dough" any day. I can't recall who sung that, but the lyrics were....
Mouldy Old Dough
Mouldy Old Dough
Mouldy Old Dough
(Then repeat the above 6 times). It was great party music. It's still used at Hot-Rod Racing as the "Anthem". That's another passion I forgot to mention, Hot-Rod Racing, & Motorbike Racing (now known as Moto GP I think).
As a teenager, I was pseudo hanger-onner/mechanic to a motobike "road-racer" as they were then called, & my heroes were Mike Hailwood, Phil Ivey, Derek "King of Brands" Minter, Paul Dunstall, & in the sidecars, Bill Boddice & Chris Vincent. In The "Race of the Century" at Brands Hatch - in the mid-sixties I'd guess - I saw Paul Dunstall get killed when his "Dunstall Domiracer" (a hybrid Triumph-engined Norton, as Triumph's never "handled" & Norton Featherbed frames did, but Norton engines were wank) & Derek Minter's Norton crashed at over 100 mph, it was the first time I'd ever seen someone get killed, & I still shudder at the memory. Hailwood was a millionaire's Son, but was killed in a road accident (or was it a helicopter?) many year later I seem to recall. I still often buy "Motor Cycle News" actually, & I've got the recent editions covering the TT.
Oh, I forgot Speedway Racing, did a few years following that, too.

I'm about done now with "passions", I think.
So, no more trains stories then?
That is an exception. You shall not be spared those. Ever.

There is an apocryphal story of Nick Lowe & the legendary Johnny Cash turning up to watch a Brentford home game. Maybe Rick Wakeman invited them. I really hope its true.
Never heard that tale before, but it could be true.
You were also a Brentford man?
Rick left the Bees after a series of heart attacks (not caused by watching Jimmy Sirrel's boring football one must assume), & ended up being somehow involved in one of the Manchester clubs - I don't recall which one.
lol no, I'm a QPR supporter, my Dad's family were all West London, although I was born in South London.

Our favourite fixture was always home & away to Millwall, a shocking team we all loved to hate.
Many was the good fight at the old den when I went to watch the Irons
The Millwall fans threw a hand-grenade on the pitch in one match! Luckily, nobody knew the pin number.

I've waited a long long time for that. I thought it was never going to happen. Another box ticked.

OMG - total loss of respect, Sir. And that tosser of a Chairman - was it Jim White? I must confess to enjoying watching Venables play there, & when Rodney Marsh & Co were at their peak, it was an exciting venue, as the stands were right "on" the pitch.

One last Mouldy Old Dough Factoid - as a No 1, it still holds a unique record. Anyone know what that is?
