I have 60GB split into two separate sections (Drive C and drive D)  Drive C is almost full, drive D is almost empty

It's really only the pics and docs I need to save, the programmes etc I could download again (I think)

You will probably get most if not all of what you want backed up onto a 8 Gig Memory Flash Drive like this 1 from Staples:

Yep. That looks like the very ticket.

What does 1-4: and 5+: mean please?  (I hope Maureen doesn't have to direct me back to that sex site)

I heard this strange little grunting noise when I was in Wollaton park on Monday, a rather unusual guttural  sound that had me guessing as to it's origin. Suddenly three squirrels came running down a tree seemingly chasing each other and scampered across the grass still making this funny grunting call as they went.

Could it be courtship or something else ?

It's a bit late in the year for squirrels (and most other things) to be mating Ralph, but I think it's about the right time for the youngsters to leave the dray.

I recon they wuz yoofs messin abaht.

I've been putting this off for about 4 years, but now the time has come. I have loads of pics and docs on my lappy and I need to back them up. (especially as this lappy is on its last legs)

What's the best (By best I mean easiest, cheapest and most fool proof) way of doing it please?

Easiest: USB flash drive.

Cheapest: couple of blank DVDs

fool proof: erm, does it exist?

You really don't need a 500GB hard drive! Or even a 200GB one, but if you get one, you can set up a regular backup but I expect this is more than you are looking to do.

I'd burn the stuff onto DVD now. Then put you new stuff on every few weeks. 20p a disc FTW. Flash drives get lost too easily for backup purposes but are useful for carrying data around.

Its also ex-VAT as its a business website, and you need to spend more than 30 quid for free delivery. Works out at £19.99 inc VAT, same as the stores, who have much more... can ya tell I work for em :s

FFS Rich -- you are in Vegas -- we want to hear about the craic -- not how you would back up your hard disc ... get posting on your own thread -- lol

Mr Mole has once again taken to his summer residence in the middle of my front field.

After fighting a bitter eviction battle with him lasting over seven years, we have finally come to our senses and reached a gentleman's agreement.

He does as he likes, I let him.

Oh dear,

This has brought back childhood memories I think I would have prefered not to be reminded of. We used to be infested with moles in our garden and used to have to spend hours at a time trying to eliminate them in a way that, now looking back,  was truly awful. I hope I get forgiven at the gates.
