My Mums shop used to be on Cank Street just round the corner from there. I used to love going up High Street as there was a Golden Egg there

I've noticed that it makes a big difference to the taste depending on what the pigeons have been feeding on.

It was a Saurday night treat, we used to shoot the pigeons in the afternoon, that was play time, Mum cooked them in the stove and we were always told to be careful of the pellet if she had not found it. Plus a bottle of Dandilion n Burdoch of course. Thrown in with the odd wild rabbit.

I refuse to comment on the grounds that I might incriminate myself.

Thinking about it, I seem to recall the terms IN the stove or ON the stove. I guess that was boil or roast back then.

That's right. In the stove for roasting/baking, on the stove for boiling/frying.

I've never eaten pigeon, or rabbit for that matter.
