Red, quick question on the dog front, i'm about half way though John Holmes book, enjoying it very much.  I wanted to ask you if you'd ever had a retriever, as i am considering this as a possible dog...

I used to train Labradors (My dad used to breed them) I had a yellow Lab named Ben, he was one of the most intelligent dogs I've ever seen.

Back then I was a novice trainer, Ben was my first proper gundog. I trained him to a very high standard, but he made it easy.

Ben probably taught me more than I taught him.

If you do get a Lab, make sure you go for a working strain, or that the dam and sire are hip scored. The show strains are prone to hip  dysplasia.

drink is not my friend, I feel so bad this morning..

The very reason I stopped drinking alcohol, the pain the day after outweighed the pleasure the night before.

That was 40 years ago (or will be next month) & I've never once regretted it. My life has been so much better for the absence of alcohol. Shame about the ciggies, though....

Were this not a Family Forum, I could tell THE most splendid tale about Duck Eggs as a sexual aid. But it is, so I won't.

Dream on.
