Hi all,

Shame not to be with you today in the press room - it's very quiet in the Poker Verdict office...

Can we please see some pics of the men in red? Wooldridge... Ghazi... JJ... Channing... and, though he is not in red (but we love him anyway) Hugo Martin?

May join the crowd later tonight for a drink or two.

Lucy Lu

PS: I worked very hard on my username.

Paul King retold a worrying story today. He informed me that he walked into Simon Zach's and Stephen Walmsley's hotel room this morning to find that Womble was cutting Simon's toe nails because Simon could bend down far enough.  Shocked

Maria is into the swing of things.

I snapped her when she was offguard, which she wasn't overly keen about, but she needn't have worried, she's a very photogenic young lady and I'm sure you'll agree she looks lovely as usual.

"Well done on winning that pot" I congratulate her warmly.

"I just lost it JC!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ooops...more coffee required for the cat I think.

Chris Moorman has made it in as an alternate. I grabbed a few words with the online prodigy...

"Good to see you here Chris"

"Yeah I wasn't going to play then I was out drinking last night and I just said f*** it, I'm gonna play and gonna win. Me and my friends were high fiving each other and everything!"

"It's about time you ran good in a few live comps Chris. I'm always bigging you up then you go and get knocked out in the first two levels and make me look like a donk!"

He promises me he is well up for this one, and at the risk of falling into the same trap I always seem to, I'll big him up again and tell you Chris has the game and the marbles to run deep in this. If he gets knocked out in the first two levels though, I'm definitely going to make good on my threat to photoshop donkey's ears onto a picture of him. So watch it Chris!

Oioi. You gonna pop down for a drink too? The more I think about it, the more I can't help but be drawn to the Vic during a festival. Cash tables await me if I get bored...

Haha, if JJ isn't wearing it then we want our money back :-P

There have been several casualties early doors.

One of those was the imposing figure of Richard Wheatley, described by one of my colleagues as "The Andy Fordham of poker."

He raised preflop and was called by the camel, Keith Hawkins.

The flop came 2-4-4 and every street was bet until Richard moved in on the river to be called by Keith. Keith flipped over the mighty 2-4 for a flopped full house and although Richard mucked, rumour has it he held K-K.

I guess that's what you call implied odds!

Here is Richard shortly after his demise, possibly pointing to another leak from the roof, although that is yet to be confirmed.

Here's another piccy of Richard that may emphasise the comparison further...

Iwan Jones is another early casualty, his executioner being the exotically named Davijay Sadarangani. Details of his exit are unknown at this point in time...

"Maybe we have the same hand?" muses gangly 'Mantis' Karl Mahrenholz before going through all the possible hands Anooj Sareen might have.

Karl then glances back down at the board.

"We could have the same hand," he adds.

Anooj, meanwhile, looks cool under pressure, his hands occupied as he slips the top card under the other and vice versa.

Karl smiles and mulls his decision further, his remaining 4,725 fanned out in front of him.

The pot's about 8k, and it's 4,725 to call, but Karl thinks he's beat and even highlights Pocket Fives as a possible hand.

The banter continues, with Karl commenting, "I'm tempted to call just out of curiosity." At one point, they even discuss a previous comp where Karl eliminated Anooj, although how that would be relevant here is a mystery.

In the end, Karl folds what I expect was a straight, only to be shown by Anooj, even though he initially claimed he wouldn't be able to show.

As fellow Hit Squadder Praz Bansi looked on, a disgruntled Karl sighed, the eyebrows twitched furiously and the game continued.
