I'm assuming that this is some kind of wind up as this is clearly impossible.

Just in case it's not a wind up though, put me down for a grand.

Like Red dog I will donate 30% of my winnings to charity. Wouldn't like them to lose out.

Out of interest why are you offering 2 to 1? Are you a particularly bad book maker? You could've got all these bets taken if you'd offered 5 to 1 on!!

More people might've believed this was real then as well.

If I'm wrong and you're serious then I apologise for this and wish you the very best of luck. I might even come and watch because if you do this it will be epic to have been there. Try comparing it to Sir Roger Bannister, Sir Donald Campbell, Sir Ranulph Fiennes..... You get the idea. It really is that big!!!

Do you like the idea of Sir Sofa??

What happens when you get round the other side of the Island? Surely everything goes the opposite way then??

Please cancel the bets mate. You're going to lose!!

Go for the sponsorship and donate some to charity yourself. I'll gladly sponsor this and give a bonus if you complete it in time but it can't be done.

If you do it you'll be in all the papers as a hero because you've made all this money for charity. Then some reporter will find out about your prop bet and spin it against you so that you look like a scumbag.

Either way you lose.

I still think it's a wind up though  Smiley

Has someone informed the Japanese and Norwegian whaling fleets about this, just in case they get itchy trigger fingers on their harpoons?

The world record for fin swimming is an average of 4.5mph over slightly less than a mile in a pool.

You're planning on swimming for four days straight at 4.16mph without stopping.

If you manage it in forty days I'll be amazed.

Quote
The day I delivered the fins, was like Christmas at the club. The kids were
so happy.
On December 22/23 they swam a 24 hour competition. They swam a
worldrecord in fin-swimming with 99.450m and in life-saving with fins
82.854m. They will be in the new Guiness book of records. A good
advertisment for your business. In the Spanish paper it said: el Asensi
bate tres records mondial en sus 24 horas. The third one was in masters
swimming.

is that 62 miles in 24 hours?

i would want to know exactly what equipment you are using and then do some research before I would bet against you.

Yes it is.

In a pool.

By a relay team of 16 swimmers.

It was also immersed which is much more efficient. You can't do that if you're on your own.

Check out this link.

41 miles in 11 hours on a round Jersey swim which is tidally assisted. Admittedly no fins so it makes sofa's attempt a little bit more feasible.

To maintain this for 96hours though?? Surely it can't be done. He'll need at least 5 hours sleep per day so that puts him down to 76 hours.

I need to know if this is for real Sofa. I'm seriously considering coming over there to watch if it is.
