£18M is a lot, and is being financed by the sales of Crouch, Riise and Carson.

He's definitely proven in the Premiership, and is a clever player who works - which is what Rafa likes.  He has a tasty missus too.

My only concern is how Rafa is going to use Torres, Keane and Gerrard in the side.  I'd assume that all three are going to be starting when fit - so it'll be interesting how Rafa sets the side up.  I hope he doesn't play Keane out wide...

Gerrard wide then?

I think without a doubt Gerrard will go back to being a "box to box" player. Although he's great going forward I feel as though we missed some midfield control last season.

Keane is a very good buy for us. Maybe a little on the steep side but potentially the perfect foil for Torres and proven in the premiership unlike Aguero, Diego, Riquelme type other link up players/second strikers. This type of player is usually a luxury player too, ie one who wont work at all off the ball. This just wont cut it under Benitez. Keane is almost perfect for Benitez and very good for Liverpool. Most importantly he's a proven EPL player and allows Gerrard to return to where he should be.

I think:

                     Reina
Def        Def            Def          Def

            Alonso       Mash

Winger          Gerrard           Winger

                   Torres

Is not as good as:

                       Reina

Def        Def                  Def           Def

Winger   Mash/Alonso      Gerrard      Winger

               Keane
                            Torres

Especially at home. There's more in the midfield and potentially much more up front.

Listen ... you mugs will be better off With Keane than we will be without him ... I am really pissed off at the sale of Keane and Berba, Even allowing for the fact that 18 mill is a very very top end price.

I suspect Liverpool will play 3-5-2 which switches to 3-4-2-1 when they have the ball.

i.e. Gerrard and Keane in behind Torres and wing-backs.

Haven't got real wingers or out and out full backs esp. as Pennant is off to Blackburn.

Which seems reasonable with Agger, Skrtel and Carragher all far better in the middle than as Full-backs.

At home this is a good formation if he does it. Our biggest problem last season was against smaller teams playing 10 men behind the ball at Anfield.

I think Keane is a good player, admittedly I have only started to think this since last season, maybe I'm wrong maybe he has been good for a few years. I think Spurs will miss him massively, I thought Keane and Berbatov were a very good front 2 last year but I also think £18m is a ridiculous price for him. When I saw Liverpool were in for him I thought about £8m - £12m would've been his price.

I must be honest I think when Spurs sell a player they always seem to get maximum for them, I think this is one area they do very well. Carrick £16m, those mugs to Sunderland £23m(I know they all haven't gone, but they got offered that) now Keane £18m.

Compare that to some of our sales Henry £16m, Vieria £14m, Helb £12m. I just think we could have got more money for each of those players. I am not  saying that they were worth more at the time of sale but I think we couldve got more.

Spurs seem to be building a strong team for next season(although they seem to do this most years then never deliver) but if they sell Keane and Berbatov I think it may be a case of 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

Keane was the most overrated player at Spurs. The fact we got £18million for him, just goes to show that we have a great chairman.

I'm not that disappointed that Keane has left, Berbatov made him look like the top player many people perceive him as.

I've been told, no matter what you read in the press, that both Keane and Berbatov will be playing for Spurs next season.

[  ] Nem knows what is going on at Spurs
