the 'perfect' poker course would be 1 to 1, and tailor made for the individual. I'm not sharing the rest of my thoughts just yet as it's something I've been giving a lot of thought to myself, but just pie in the sky at the moment. I reserve the right to use anything posted on this thread for my research though

A course would need to be targetted towards learning generic skills unless it was long enough to get to know my game and tailor advice/training to my play. So basic poker theory, making moves and reacting to what others do would be a good start for a beginner.
You would need a set of courses from the very basics to more advanced play and I would prefer masterclasses in specific skills development. For example, Tighty spoke about his poker skills in his diary thread and for him there needs to have a mindshift as he seems to be holding onto a way of thinking thus a way of playing. He knows his theory but the behaviour isn't developing in tandem and it needs to. Behaviours are hard to change/ develop and involve taking risks. For tight players risk taking within a theoretical framework would be a sound course. Find a way to change attitude and behaviour and you've got a winner.
For me the most challenging part of my live game has been working with chips and people....lol I've got much better and much more confident and I still have not played that much live. The skill I would want to develop would be to ignore people discussing my play at the table. I don't know why but I don't enjoy it. I put a guy out in a recent game where I called his all-in with my 77 against his AK. Later he was talking to this other guy(while the guy was still sitting playing) after I took a huge pot from him with a bluff. I predicted the guys hand and told him what I thought it was and he denied it, saying he had a big pocket pair on a low disconnected flop. He went on and on about his hole cards to other players and I was not going to reveal mines because I had nothing but the way this made me feel wasn't good - it upset my flow but on looking back maybe I predicted his hole cards correctly and freaked him out? I constantly read behaviours and in the cases where I may have got it wrong I would like to learn to drop it in my own head (although this guy wanted to keep the convo going) instead going over it to see how I got the read wrong and stop wondering what other players are saying about me and get on with my own game. This is important because I don't want to carry bad habits with me if I decide to play more and more live games. Also, I would like to ask people at the table talking to their pals not at the table to go away but I don't know the etiquette so for me a course would need to be on what behaviours are acceptable or not, what I can challenge or not and how to handle people that are obviously talking about my play as it sends my into hyperdrive - that might have been the redbull right enough....lol I am not shy and am a very confident person so why does this affect me? I know it's irrational but still a mental block I couldn't drop on 2 occasions its happened? Maybe you should come to my next live game and hypnotise me into not giving a damn? lol
