I spoke to Maureen this morning. Her grandson Reece is seriously ill, Mr Nun (who is self employed) has a broken leg and cracked ribs, and  is unable therefore unable to to work. her father-in-law has head injuries (although not serious) and her father-in law's mum is expected to pass away any time.

Today she is, as you might expect, a little bit down.

We should do something. Maureen has four members of her family in hospital, including the only one that was working. Money can't solve her problems, but we could perhaps ease her financial burden a little.

This may not be possible, (I don't know yet) but I am going to speak to the mods with a view to making a collection on Maureens behalf. I would be happy to start it off with a small donation. (Hopefully, individual donation amounts could remain anonymous, but the total raised could be verified)

What do you think?

I posted this earlier today on another thread.  http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=34958.msg751219#msg751219

Since then I have discussed it with the mods and admin, and all are in favour of my publishing the details of Maureens Stars account so that those of you who would like/are able to can make a donation.

Her Stars id is mous and her hometown is huddersfield.

We will also be looking at running a little 'benefit' comp on blonde.

BTW- Maureen says that the moral support that she has received is worth more to her than anything. Please, Keep it coming.

Thank You.

xx

I don't think they do, so you should be able to transfer.

not talking about transfering, talking about getting the money off the site without having to play poker with it first for some unspecified amount of time like I have seen in posts from people moaning that PS won't let them withdraw transferred money.

prob tikay knows people who can sort it out I'm sure

You have to say, everything that 'Stars do, they do efficiently, quickly, & well. Some site that.

All the 'Stars players out here in Vegas are wearing tops which say "THE WORLD'S LARGEST POKER SITE". And no wonder.

Question.

I am in the US of A now, & want to deposit some cash on 'Stars. My card "bounced". (I'm in funds). Do you think it bounced because of the Ports Bill thing?

Thanks.

I spoke to Maureen briefly this morning and, truth to tell. things are pretty bad. Firstly, Reece 'might' be losing weight. I say might because there is some confusion over weather he was weighed before or after his feed. (The fact that there is confusion is a worry in itself)

Usually Maureen is there to oversee these things ,but she has also been looking after Darren (Mr Nun) who is in agony with a broken ankle and cracked ribs.

Maureen was just setting out for the hospital again so I didn't manage to find out much more. She did ask me to thank you all for your moral support and good wishes, she says she is overwhelmed by everyones kindness.

Maureen also wants me to thank the people who transfered donations to her Stars account. (especially those who could ill afford it but made a small donation anyway) She says the money will be used to pay off some outstanding bills that have been a real worry.

I personally would like to thank you all for your kindness and compassion. Mrs Red and I have had a little taste of what Maureen is going through and believe me, you wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy. it is indescribably hard. The kindness and support we received from friends and sometimes strangers made us so emotional that we often burst into tears, but I don't think we would have got through without it.

Never underestimate the power of a kind word, or the strength that comes from knowing you're not alone.
