True Grit. Coen Bros are wonderful. Really authentic western remake, Hailee Steinfeld as 14yo Mattie is sensational. Lots of big themes in the story, superbly acted, great cinematography. Big chunks of the script are word for word from the novel, which makes it a bit of a toough watch at times as the language is quite dated. 9 tighty stars out of 10

She was just fantastic. Effortless. Which takes some doing given the role and the langauge. Owned Matty and Jeffy in heads-up action imo.
Not everyone is going to love every Coen Brothers flick but they are always mesmerising. This one no different. Awesome stuff.
Won't stop Sir Donksalot wandering down to watch Adam Sandler's latest pile of poop this week though innit?

Never Let Me Go

Looking forward to your review of this Tighty.

Went in not knowing what to expect. Director also directed One Hour Photo. Yep, I remember that. It was OK. Whatever.

Keira Knightly has normally just tilted me in the past but she was fine here. Haunting is the best word for this flick. Stays with you.

First half-hour is a grind. Could easily have chopped 10mins out from there. But then it's worth it. Carey Mulligan quality. Not quite so sold on Andrew Garfield's 1970s British public school accent though. The odd word comes out a bit weird.

7/10.

Never Let me go

Hauntingly sad, very understated and moving, this is an unusual watch. About as far from Multiplex fare as you can imagine, it's a sci-fi love triangle with some big themes on the fleeting nature of life on top. The performance by Casey Mulligan as Kathy B is superb. Knightley is good too. Main star though is the director who infuses every shot with an ethereal quality that just oozes disappointment and confusion

I liked it, a class quirky film

Will have to go an read the Ishiguro novel its based on now

I Am Number Four.

Not bad. Standard multiplex stuff really but different enough to keep you interested.

Callan McAuliffe the star of the show. Just looked him up on imdb. Born in 1995 ffs! Aaaargh. I'd had three jobs by then. At least. Maybe ten. He wins my award...The Chompy Oscar...The Choscar...for best supporting actor in an ordinary movie 2011.

Sort of flick to have Sir Donks on the edge of his seat - defo similarities with The Twishight Saga - and enough action to have him and his fantastic fajita Friday film fledglings dropping popcorn in excitement on the floor every so often.

The Rite.

Meh. Think that pretty much covers it.

Anthony Hopkins plays Anthony Hopkins, Colin O'Donoghue is ordinary, Rutger Hauer looks old.

I enjoyed the Adjustment Bureau a lot. A it preachy, but there is great chemistry between the always watchable Matt Damon and the gorgeous Emily Blunt as the two leads . Part Bourne Trilogy, Part Inception, there is a lot borrowed from other Sci Fi formats, and a lot of interesting ideas about fate and free will too. Above all this though its probably a date movie as Damon's character battles higher beings to get the girl he wants

Sadly the ending undoes much of the previous stuff you've enjoyed watching, but I won't do spoilers.

Very enjoyable Nonsense though
