Took the kids to see Tangled..as expected slick and polished...nice take on rapunzel story and if you have kids its a certain winner..def bearable for parents and overall i enjoyed it... three diamonds not too bad either but i still fail to see why they continue to push the three diamonds medium.... apart from the odd instance its still nothing but a gimick..ive still yet to encouter a three diamonds film that makes me go wow !

8/10 go see it... and if u dont have kids borrow some so you can..obv with permission..not like chompy does

Rectum was good as far as the 3D goes that's it. Only decent actor among this lot was the kid. He's the only one that makes it out alive. Like that wasn't obv within half an hour. This flick is a tilter.

The Mechanic pleasing enough. All been done before but worth a watch. Nice burst of Statham being monosyllabic and cool. The longest sentence he ever said was "Nice rack Kelly." Probably.

The Fighter and True Grit this week for me

Hoping the fighter is more than an underdog boxing movie, but probably isnt

True Grit I am hearing great things about

I thought the Fighter was amazing! Bale deserves an Oscar for his role. No question. Great Film. Enjoy.

Watched True Grit this morning, Also loved it. not as good as the Fighter overall imo. A different film overall. Pleasantly surprised as I have not been overly impressed with the Coen Brother's last two. It's like a very dark western, with some great witty one liners coming from the main character.

A couple of other newish ones which i liked where 'it's a kind of funny story' about a kid who admits himself into a psych ward, has the guy from Hangover Zaach gafindallopadus or something. It's a kind of dark comedy. found it funny. If you get around to watching it and like it remotely,  i would suggest 'The Squid and the Whale' I've never met anyone else who has seen this film, but it is fantastic. Laugh out loud hilarious.

You wouldn't think i wrote film reviews as part of my old job. I used to get edited quite a lot as i had strong biased views. Have been reading through the thread and some people know their stuff.

Seems a good time for our Bets Films of 2010:

Thought it was a disappointing year for film to be honest, not many stood out.

1. Inception
2. Shutter Island
3. Kick Ass

Salt just misses out.

1. A prophet
2. The Town
3.The Other Guys

2011: Looking forward to:
Hangover 2
Real Steel
Transformers 3

Haha Class, (Zach Galifianakis apparently) Never even heard of it before. Just on the Natalie Portman one. "What's Chewbacca like to work with? He doesn't speak English does he" Nice one man. Hilarious!!

True Grit. Coen Bros are wonderful. Really authentic western remake, Hailee Steinfeld as 14yo Mattie is sensational. Lots of big themes in the story, superbly acted, great cinematography. Big chunks of the script are word for word from the novel, which makes it a bit of a toough watch at times as the language is quite dated. 9 tighty stars out of 10

The Fighter. Routine Boxing film, against the odds triumph against the system thingy. 5 tighty stars out of 10. A bit of a yawn for me, though Bales does pull out all the stops

Not understanding the hate for The Fighter.  I admit the plot is fairly routine.  But the actors, script, directing makes The Fighter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Every other boxing movie

I agree. 5/10 is fair for the best of a pretty terrible genre

Unstoppable - 4/10 - Denzel Washington in "$100m blockbuster thriller"...um probably the most predictable cliched "thriller" I have ever seen...ugh! a lot of train footage in it though Tikay!

I think mark whalbergs acting is awful in the fighter....whilst bale is awesome as usual. I think that about most of his films tho; there's prob 3 films I've liked him in, departed, boogie nights, other guys...he just shit... the happening is funny bad
