Denzel on great form...really like him as an actor..come a long way since For queen and country ( lol ) look that one up...

Won't spoil it but really enjoyed it first 10 minutes had me gripping the sofa.. Plus excellent cheeky bird full nudity to kick off the deal..

7.5...

Denzel is the absolute nuts.

I revisited Taxi Driver last night. Bob De Niro performance is just sublime who plays the part of a Vietnam vet with mental health issues who takes a job as a taxi driver. Story is a bit slower than I remembered but it doesn't take anything away from the film.
well worth the trip down memory lane. 8/10

I think this hit home much more to those who watched it as it came out. I thought the film was made by the final scenes and the build up was a little too slow for my liking but added to the gritty realism, which probably made the ending as good as it is.

7.5/10 for me, De Niro is awesome in it.

As for Zero Dark Thirty, I watched that today and that is a really good film, but had some bizarre cameos from John Barrowman and Martin Delaney (of Renford Rejects fame). Which nearly made me start laughing, as my stereotype of each of them was so against the seriousness of the film, when they both popped up at separate times.

Builds at a nice pace and keeps your attention throughout, dealing with the real life events of CIA agents dealing with threats of post 9/11. And the ending is probably the most tense I have felt in a long while at the cinema.

Don't want to ruin any part of the film, so will just say it got an 8/10 from me, and would recommend.

I really liked Django Unchained, sure didnt feel like 2hrs 45 min to me. Agree Waltz was fantastic - will have to go back and give Inglorious a second chance.
Must be an inspiration to film students everywhere that there's a one in ten million chance you'll get to be a rich and famous director who gets to make a big budget homage to his fav cult movies

Got a recommend for a great movie that is a little hard to come by "California Split"  Story centres around gambling/poker and stars George Segal and Elliott Gould http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071269/

goes under the neglected classic heading in my book

The Sweeney

It was always going to be hard to make a film about a series that was so embedded in the British psyche and that contained such iconic characters as Reagen and Carter. When all is said and done the makers managed a reasonable fist of it.
Ray Winstone as Reagen was a decent choice and our man didn't have to stray too far off typecast to succeed in doing a reasonable job. I wasn't so struck on the choice of Carter as the actor couldn't make up his mind whether he was tough cop moulded by Reagen or wannabe Chav.

The story is pretty formula.. standard Swiss cheese plots which you can see coming from a mile away.. but it rolls along just fine. It would probably have been fine as a standalone action/thriller but I think the Sweeney tag and a few nods to the series will bolster box office a tad.

Overall two hours not overly wasted as I found at the end id actually enjoyed it

Django Unchained

Tarintino back on form IMO in a spaghetti western hybrid that delivers the directors own special brand of cinema..

Waltz is fantastic.... his character is just sublime..the dialogue and acting a joy to behold. Fox makes an great Django..cool and simmering and the film is stolen by Samuel L Jackson who still manages to get his standard Muther Fucker  lines in even in a historic piece.

The shootouts are joyously graphic and OTT with much erupting blood and loud bangs... FANTASTIC !

Once again Tarintino dialogue just oozes class with just a pinch of dark humour.. i actually laughed outloud when the Klansman had an argument amongst themselves that the eye holes in their hoods weren't big enough and the husband of the woman who had made the thirty odd masks stropped off in a hissy fit...awesome !

All in all  i loved Django.. was even better than I was anticipating... Tarintino in a class of story telling all on his own

Les mis - They nailed it. Didn't think it was possible to fall for Anne Hathaway anymore until watching this.

Django - Tarantino does Western.  Doesn't really matter what genre he does, it will be recognisable as a Tarantino movie.  Has/ can get a bit samey, but he does it so good it doesn't matter.  Christoph Waltz steals the movie.
