Life of Pi

It was with trepidation I settled down to watch a film so much had been talked about.. 'Best film ever'.... 'Wow!'... were  phrases that had been bandied about.

The trailers had left me with an uneasy feeling that it was something that would appeal maybe to the fairer sex and not some lunkhead that liked to watch films where things blew up a lot and loudly..

My companions were two equally sceptical daughters, thirteen and nine instilled by my non deliberate hand i might add, with the same scathing opinions of the trip ahead as my own.

However what transpired were two hours of fantastic story telling firmly cemented with beautiful vibrant visuals rarely seen on celluloid before.

The opinionated trio sat transfixed and pleasantly surprised and agreed by films end it had been a worthwhile trip. OK some of the deeper stuff was lost on my children but their burgeoning years are excuse for that.

On a personal level I enjoyed it from the perspective that ,thankfully, true story telling is not lost and doesn't need crash bang wallop to get the tale told... To me not best film ever because I still remain a heathen troglodyte when it comes to taste and discretion but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend you see it even, if like me, it's not your perceived cup of tea...

Now, can I really brace myself enough to take on Les Mis ?

Wreck it Ralph

PG film one for the kids.  Took my 8year old daughter.  Normally with this type of films, and since Toy Story, most contain some humour for the adults that are watching with the kids that really wanted to see the film in the first place.

This lacked anything of the sort. I also thought the story line was very complicated for the age it was aimed for.  (I'm assuming 6-12yrs) and was a big disappointment not only for me, but I never once heard my 8yr old laugh or in fact anything close to that.

I Give It A Year

Utter shite. Brit romcoms are NOT funny. This is like Love Actually all over again. But worse.

Stephen Merchant is a tit and the bloke from Pete Versus Life can't act.

Same old actors, same old Brit bollocks. Just fk off.

I'm tilting harder than cracksniper with A9.

LOL @ Chompy Cheesy

Inglourious Basterds

Reminded me a little bit of a Val Kilmer 'Top Secret' type movie, but attempting a slightly more serious plot.

Christoph Waltz steals the show again, Pitt plays a very good part and some solid performances from unknowns.

Good movie, but of the 2 I've seen lately I preferred Django and it's definitely no Pulp Fiction!

I Give It An Hour - I gave it 30mins Donks before the inevitable flounce.

Django Unchained

From utter shite yesterday to utter perfection today. Tarantino never disappoints. Samuel L is superb as always.

Couldn't disagree more. My 10yo nephew had already seen it over the weekend but was chomping to see it again.

Place was packed and, for me, this is up there with the Pixar stuff. John C.Reilly and Sarah Silverman both excellent.

OK ,  I'm gonna have to stick up for this. I thought was pretty hilarious and a packed Saturday Night audience seemed to enjoy it as much as me. You didn't chuckle just a little at the threesome fail scene Huh?

You and Claudia Winkles in one corner simon, me in the other. Claudia thought it was 'brilliant'!

The whole thing made me shake my head from the start, up until the flounce, when Pete Versus Life did the hilarious 'buying lingerie' sketch. Tired, lazy, lowest common denominator, and way too English for me.
