I liked Man form UNCLE unfortunately the critics didn't.

AntMan was great and a welcome addition to the Marvel films.

Straight outa Compton was really good also and a cracking insight into how things were on the US West coast.

Boyz n the Hood - after watching the above I re-watched this and again totally enjoyed it.

Sicario - Great film, gritty, no sugar coated fairytale ending. Couple of slow segments but it added to the tension. Josh Brolin is good, Benicio Del Toro is great and Emily Blunt stunning.

Solid 7.9/10

Saw The Martian in 3D Friday night.  It's not the best film ever but it's pretty good.  The 3D however was amazing!   In particular the shots of the big main spaceship and the landscape shots on Mars were very very good.

Saw The Program last night.

Ben Foster was absolutely fantastic as Armstrong. More Armstrong than Armstrong in many ways!

Felt like the film should/could have concentrated more on his motivation for cheating than the actual drug taking, which we all now know took place.

Still worth watching though.

Spectre

This is 2 1/2 hours you will never get back. Far too long and a really weak plot only saved a little by some good action scenes but as they did in QOS most of the fight scenes are shot close up and are just too hazy and unclear. Most of the extra length seems like fillerand although it is a slow evolving plot there is loads of plot that isn't needed.

After Bardem's character in Skyfall stole the film from Craig they seem to have decided to get another big name in but Waltz only gets about 40 minutes and he is the most wishy washy of Bond baddies. The 'comeback scene' where Bond is at deaths door and blows up a room where only the baddies get hurt is awful.

3/10

A much better idea would be to spend the time watching Sicario (8/10) twice instead of this. A really disappointing Bond film which ends with the age old timer on a bomb ticking down slowly until there are only seconds to spare which I thought they had done away with in about 1978.

Wait for it come out on DVD and watch in 2 goes to avoid boredom if you must watch it.

Suffragette

I guess it would difficult to make a film which isn't watchable about this subject. Suprised the events haven't been visited many times before.

Having said tihs, the film is moving, powerful and uplifting.

Made me embarrassed to be a man at times.

Carey Mulligan is fantastic as is Helena Bonham Carter. Not sure how much Meryl Streep was paid for her cameo, but it was money wasted. She adds nothing to the film.

All in all the sort of movie which has you thinking for many hours afterwards.

Spectre

I think Bobby is being a bit harsh with such a low score. It's definitely no Skyfall but contains all the necessary bits that make it a Bond movie. Beautiful women, fast cars, fast fight scenes and a sprinkling of gadgets.

6.8 from me.

Whilst I didn't score it as low as this (4.5), I agree with a chunk of the review.

Meru.

Documentary about some pro climbers trying to climb this unclimbed peak in the Himalayas with the usual setbacks. Great scenery and stuff, it's a hybrid of the films Everest and touching the void, if you liked those two films you will like it probably.

The Martian

Really great film about a guy that gets left on Mars by his crew and finds a way to survive there.
