in no particular order

full metal jacket
platoon
a bridge too far
battle of britain
saving private ryan
thin red line
das boot
deer hunter
apocalpyse now
paths of glory
all quiet on the western front
tora! tora! tora!

a recent one i'd recommend is "Fury" about the tank division starring Brad Pitt.

Snowden

Being quite ambivalent about this guy I wasn't sure what to expect but it's a good film. Focusing on his love story and health issues and everything he gave up to do what he believed  needed to be done to expose illegal data theft/usage by governments. It's certainly pro Snowdon but by the end of the film I felt pro Snowdon too. Deffo left feeling like he might have done us all a favour and he knew he would pay quite a price doing so instead of thinking of him as a guy that stole top secret stuff and got caught.

The Edge Of Seventeen.

Film of the year by a distance, 10/10.

Hailee Steinfeld is something else. Even Kyra turned in half a performance.

Getting in touch with your feminine side chomps ?

There's more to life than watching The Godfather films twice a week each.

Do like this sort of flicko though. Was always going to draw comparisons to Juno but it's way better than that. It's almost up there with Fried Green Tomatoes ATWC.

You misjudge me... one of my fave films is 'Love Actually'

Think you mean least fave?

Entire film made me want to break stuff.

Prefer Notting Hill, personally.

i am being taken to see Rogue one.

I am not really a star wars fan, saw the 1970-80s films but not since

so, to save me researching

is this a prequel, sequel or what? where does it fit in the time line?

do i need to have seen all the star wars films to appreciate it?

Rogue One

Got treated to the full IMAX treatment by the better half for fajita Friday.. sans Fajitas Smiley

Really enjoyed this, had all the ingredients that make a great Star Wars film... Good versus evil..Heroes and Villains.. basic story line and simple mission goals wrapped up in an orgy of epic set piece battle scenes both ground and air/space. Some nice tip of the hats to the original film and some seriously good work to bring Peter Cushion back as Grand Moff Tarkin.. not so much on the Princes Leia but suspension of disbelief was high enough to get it through..

All in all a Star Wars fans wet dream.. some I'm sure will nit pick but as a stand alone and an addition to the Star Wars universe it pretty much got there.. loved the apathetic re programmed imperial droid.

8.5 Fajitas out of 10

set right before the original Star Wars film.. stands alone but helps a little to have seen the original especially as you will appreciate a few of the nuances... enjoy Smiley

What a depressing list, aside from Deadpool.

I blame the fajita-fuelled multiplex brigade.

I think the decline of movies has a direct negative correlation with the rise of television. All the best actors, writers, directors and stories are moving over to TV where they can tell a much getter more detailed show.

Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, West World, Walking Dead, Fargo, The Leftovers, Better Call Saul, True Detective, House of Cards, Narcos, Black Mirror etc, all the high quality stuff is on TV now, leaving basically superhero movies for the big screen.

TBH I prefer it this way so wont complain
