Now Is Good

Jeez! Some of the worst acting ever seen and don't expect to see Dakota Fanning on the big screen again. Massive swerve this one.

Wow, I thought Avengers Assemble was terrible. Everybody I talk to says it's a great movie but it really isn't. Not my genre so a bit biased but these movies tend to be all about the visuals yet the only visual that really blew me away was Scarlet Johansson's ass. I didn't really get any of it. Eg Black Widow runs for her life when Banner turns into Hulk because he is a crazy beast who wants to rip her to pieces. One minute later when the aliens come to town they are like high-fiving each other and fighting together. The Thor character seemed ridic to me like some kinda buffount Flash Gordon. And where the hell was Spiderman?

Agreed, didn't enjoy it at all.

Probably been mentioned lots before but watched 'girl with the dragon tattoo' on anytime last night.

Exciting, tense, brutal and tragic.  Really enjoyed it.

Daniel Craig plays exactly the same type of character he always does but this is fine because he's a beast on the screen.  The young lady who plays Lisbeth is excellent too.

I have only watched the swedish original of this film. Curious if anyone who has seen both still recommends watching it.

It's exactly the same as the original IMHO.
Would say enjoyed original better probably because I knew what was coming in the new version. Thought Daniel Craig was not as good as the original guy but Rooney Mara  was nominated for an Oscar as Lisbeth Salander and rightly so. Thought she was better than the original.

Wife has got the Girl who kicked the hornets nest which is right in front of me and read the girl who played with fire which are part of the trilogy and says she thoroughly enjoyed them all.

Well acted (as you would expect from the cast list.),but a bit wordy for my taste. Quite brutal violence and some good super-slow-mo effects in action scenes.
The plot was a bit thin and none of the characters were in any way sympathetic, leading to a lack of engagement with them and an ultimate feeling of "meh, who cares."
Theme of the film (ie state of American society) was ladelled on in large dollops.
All in all 5/10 for me.

There's a certain pointlessness about this new version as it's a pretty faithful re-telling of the story. Having said that, I think it's very good. Thought it would be way over the top but it's pretty bleak and I liked all the lead actors in their roles

Battleship was beyond terrible. Would have left but fell asleep...

Was very surprised having read the books and seen the Swedish version of TGWTDT but I thought the Americanised version was surprisingly good.

Savages. Dir Oliver Stone

Beware, there is a slight spoiler on here in the first paragraph

Often in Hollywood a film will be completed with alternative endings. Both versions of films are then  shown to a preview audience and market research is undertaken to see which they prefer. Usually the released version has the more popular version. It being a feel good sort of industry, often the endings chosen are the upbeat ones. People don't die. Everyone leaves the cinema full of hope. So what possessed Oliver Stone to film two endings then give us both in the film? Completely barmy, and a completely artificial ending to a film that was over-bombastic.

I've liked Stone's stuff in the past. Eviscerating and polemic, films like Platoon, JFK etc did it for me. I had high hopes for Savages, the story of a Californian small drugs producer and the battle against a Mexican cartel.

The film however is a failure on several points. The dialogue is wooden, the plot is messy and the direction is so in your face it almost shouts "look at me, I'm Oliver Stone and I can do the funky stuff"

The violence is the other thing. It's intense, and shot with a boyish enthusiasm that leaves you in no doubt that one of Stone's hobbies is chopping off the heads of mannequins with a sharpened axe. After all, that appears to be the instrument of pain for Mexican drug cartels if this film is to be believed, as the film weaves its way through a topography of drug trade sadistic sociopathy.

5 tighty stars out of 10. Ultimately, a disappointment.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/at-the-movies/a408139/10-worst-video-game-movies-street-fighter-super-mario-more-pictures.html

Firstly, I think it's important to point out that the sample size is small: there are only so many video game movies.

However, there are some bloomin' classics in this list! The films know full well what they are and there are no illusions about how a low budget and a few cheeky asides to the audience makes a barely passable but ultimately enjoyable film.

JCVD, Raul Julia, Kylie Minogue. Street Fighter. What is there not to like?

As good as it gets. Don't watch this one below if you don't want to know the score...

Looper - I know Blondes has a varied view on movies and Looper won't be to everyones taste.  Saying that my film of the year.

Also if you've seen the Raid then no need to see Dredd, as they have exactly the same plot.

Which part?  The Raid and Dredd?  Just a warning not to pay to watch the same movie twice, if you've seen neither then what spoiler?
