I know you can live for ages without food but how long is it before it actually becomes bad for you? is 36 hours a really bad idea? how about 31?

If you drink enough water and take some supplements, you can live indefinitely. Not going to the the healthiest way to live, but you'd survive.

sigh, and how about reading the question before answering it? What do you mean by 'bad for you'? Long-lasting damage, general malaise? I reckon several months before your immune system is affected.

I think there have been some people who tried no eating diets and messed up their health because of this view. You do need food, 36 hours is nothing, 72 isn't much - but prolonged lack of food can be very harmful

Don't take any risks with it though, I recommend atleast 6 meals a day...and a few snacks.

not quite. train broke down yesterday so instead of a leisurely 2 hour lunch I had to rush straight to the casino then forgot to eat and woke up this afternoon realising it'd been 28 hours since I eat. was gonna experiment and go for 36 and see how I felt but decided to go to the cinema at 31 hours and figured it'd be really bad if the hunger kicked in during the movie and I had to leave to get popcorn so I got a pizza first

The most I've gone without food was 5 days in October 2006. Had a bout of peritonitis and ended up in hospital for ten days. The hospitalisation was because I couldn't dialyse so had to have emergency operation rather than because of the lack of food though.

You can go for a month easy without eating any food. As long as you keep active, your body will simply use up your fat reserves. I didn't eat from the evening of the 3rd of March will the afternoon of the 17th of March this year, was odd!
Prop bet?
