Mike Ellis raises from late position and Simon Trumper makes the call from the small blind.

Trumper moves all-in and Ellis begins to think for a good couple of minutes before basically calling the clock on himself, at which point he passes with 10 seconds left. Trumper shows , Ellis said he had nines.

I'm afraid he's OUT. He made a move with but ran into the of Tim Flanders. Some hope initially on the two hearts board, but no cigar for that man.

A double-up for Elliot Peterman -- James Keys raised from the cutoff and then called Peterman's small blind shove for not much much more.

David Anderson is similarly no more. He got it in ahead with pocket kings against the pocket jacks of Matt Heeps, but a cruel jack on the board sent him packing and Heeps breathing a sigh of relief. Heeps now has, ahem, heaps of chips -- looks like around 80k.

Rutter In The Gutter

Metaphorically.

He got it in with against Simon Trumper's , and stayed behind all the way down the . He walked off without a word, I suspect in the direction of the bar.

Day 1a Official Shortstacker Joe Grech is OUT. He'd managed to double up to around 20k, but then got it in with pocket queens against Tim Flanders' pocket aces. No help for him, and he was putting on his coat and heading for the smoking section.

Incidentally, as I was reporting the hand, Jeff Kimber wandered up to me. "Is it normal to keep your magazine in your trousers like that?" he enquired, pointing to Mr Flanders. No. No it's not.
