It's penultimate GUKPT time and this time we're in Blackpool with just a couple of weeks before the Grand Final back in the Vic. Blackpool traditionally is a poker hotbed, but has dried up a little since this event last year, however it still seems to draw in the crowds these last few days and we wouldn't be surprised by a sellout here despite pretty much going toe-to-toe with Amsterdam and Warsaw.

In fact, I'll stick my neck out and guess we'll be going to get at least 250, perhaps close to 300 mark despite the pressures from other competitions.

Jen will be joining me as my Partner in Kryme for the first couple of days before Snoops and I will be doing the last couple days as Jen has a prior engagement.

Day 1A starts at 2pm, well it's scheduled to, but will it?

Let us know if there's anyone you wish coverage of.

Of course Blackpool is famous for some of it's seaside rollercoasters. Here's some brave volunteers from earlier, especially for Kev. Wink

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Welcome to the tournament: the slightly less populated, but no less enthusiastic Day 1A here at the Blackpool G Casino, which is surrounded by a fog currently of which old London Town would have been proud.

No word from me yet due to internet problems, but a Musical Chairs game later, and we've ended up right next to the action on the casino floor itself, which commenced at around 2:25pm and has been slowly progressing since then.

Prior to the start (people have, as is usual these days, been drifting slowly in wanting last minute entry or alternate status) it looked for a little while like there would be just 80 players on the first flight, leaving nearly double that for the second.  Red-dog (playing right now, in fact) was mulling over which start day was preferable, and pondering the difficult question of What To Do if Hardly Anyone Shows for One of the Days, and also pondering not playing 1A if there was going to be a huge discrepancy in the number of runners.  Anyone have an opinion on this other than that it's better to have the larger field?  Maybe you don't agree with this and relish the possibility of long hours of surprise short-handed-ish play?

Mick McBag has been McBagged.

Apparently he called a 250 bet on a -Xc-Xd flop with Two Diamonds and another 800 on the turn before getting it all-in on the river...unfortunately Chris Wright, his opponent, had bet the whole way with and quickly called.
