Paul Garnham is out. Details are musky, but I believe Floppy is brushing the dust of his Columbo coat and will be undertaking a full investigation when they return.

If there's one thing that winds my colleague up a treat it's when people accidentally congratulate me for the updates when I'm not even here. Whilst I must admit that I have often begged people to post disingenuous compliments when I'm not present if only to further enrage our hapless victim (he cottoned on, eventually), I did receive an private email this morning bigging up my work in Blackpool and asking if I could keep an eye on a couple of players. I just thought I'd share that with our Floppy friend, because it's amusing, he's like Angry Dad from the Simpsons every time someone posts "great updates, snoops".

Play is just about to resume.

Pete Singleton was all-in preflop versus two callers who then checked down the Q-9-7-6-9 board. One of them declared two pair but threw the cards in the muck when Singleton turned over A-9 for trips and a much needed treble up. He look up in the air and thanked whoever was watching him from above. Since we're in a casino, I'm going to assume he's thanking the security staff.

He ran into Kings. FACT!

That's according to Chris Sokrati.

All quiet on the Blackpool front as we enter the final level of the day. Amid the gentle sound of last minute grindage, I did manage to grab the following chip counts:

Stephen Boyd -- 13,000
Al Armitage -- 27,000
Martino Libertini -- 35,000
Alan Trueick -- 16,000
Greg Hunt -- 14,500
Zahir Aslam -- 63,500
Ken Clark -- 12,500
Andy Warnes -- 55,000
Chris Sokrati -- 12,000
Ali Mallu -- 68,000
Mick McCloskey -- 32,000
Lorna Lancaster -- 20,500
Dan Hook -- 31,000
Alan Dean -- 26,000
Brian Martin -- 10,000
Alan Vinson -- 30,000

As I was collating random chip counts, there was an all-in on the central table, big blind Jamie Hallam moving in over the top of Gareth Jones' button raise for 11,075 more. It's serious business though, Jones removing his glasses and mulling over his option, fully aware that the removal of glasses always enables correct decisions to be made. Meanwhile, Hallam is as still as water, statuesque as he awaits his opponent's decision. After a brief pause, The Nugget opts for the fold, and Hallam survives. Jones down to 12,000.

Ken Clark is a recent elimination, but all the drama was occurring on the neighbouring table. Details on their way.

Stu Rutter has added another 25k or so to his stack with a nice piece of A-A vs A-K. 67 players left.

Close but no cigar?
