Flops. Grosvenor Brighton doesn't have the best of reputations as far as casinos. Any change this year, or still far from delightful?

Well we don't look like anywhere near starting, no-one is sitting down just yet.

No, I meant in terms of surroundings. A lot of people say it's not the nicest of places, and I was wondering if things had improved over the last year, a la Luton.

Hmmm, it's going to be hard for me to grab a sight over the next few days. I don't mind Brighton, I certainly prefer it to Luton, but neither are really my cup of tea.

Incidentally, still no nearer to starting, blessed with a lot of DTD tournaments recently, I've forgotten how slow sometimes these take to start.

Lol, not the city ya plum, the casino, is it still a shit hole? (I really didn't want have to say that.)

Errr, it's not great. The tournament area is still seperated out into two areas making it awkward, but there's going to be about 100 runners today so I suspect one area should be broken quickly making everyhing easier. It's not the biggest casino tbh, but the way they've set it out this year is remarkable easier than Year 1 where they had everyone stuck in the middle and it was a nightmare.

Not a great start for Nick Gibson, he raises a 1,000 bet on the river of a Q-5-4-6-8 board to 3,500 and is duly called. Nick flips 5-5 for a flopped set but his opponent's average hand, Q-7 has rivered a straight to become the best and Gibson is already down half his stack.

Seems like an odd raise. I guess Nick thought his opponent was a bit of a station, probably didn't have the straight and could call on that board with just top pair.

Man down!

I missed the action but Dave Colclough filled me in with the details that Stefan John Haffner is our first exit, getting it all-in on the river of a 4-6-8-6-9 board with 9-9 but running into Trinh Lam's 6-6 for a particularly nasty cooler. Especially when you've come all the way across from Norway...

Yes, after that hand Nick went to cool down as evidenced by this photo (that's his newspaper). Also note the official printed ID cards that all players get now which makes my job easier. Smiley

Also here is Kevin O'Leary and Richard Kellett.

For those wondering what Kevin is watching while he's not folding his hand every other minute...it's the second season of Dexter. He better not spoil it for me, I've only just started watching that season. Angry

Tony Phillips has had a good start, I think he has about 17k. Looks like he has benefit from Albert Sapiano's aggressive calling style as the latter is down to about 3k.

Priyan De Mel raises to 200 after a limper from the button. Andy Greekfish reraises to 1,000 from the small blind. Priyan folds face up, Greekfish gives a load of verbals before showing , or King of Red, King of Blue for Tikay. He then shouts, "I soooo knew I was getting paid if he had a big hand!!!!!!"
