Down to last 4 from 26 man MTT

As ever I'm in the small stakes level here - £2.50 buy in  Smiley
Top 5 paid - don't ask! 45% 25% 15% 10% 5%
Blinds are 2,000/4,000

UTG (12000) calls - he's prone to stuff like this with connected cards or better and hasn't adjusted to the situation
BTN (c7000) folds
SB - me (12200)  - call -  I've been shoving and taking it down with better (and worse), but I sense that patience is wearing thin from the BB. he'll check behind if I make up
BB (c21000) checks as anticipated

flop  two spades

Shove?

with a 4k bb and only 12k in chips, you should never be limping.

Are those stacks correct? CL has only 21k at 2k/4k?

26 players 2000 chips to start, the stacks look right. Looks like it's been a bit of a nitfest for a $2.50 tourney.

As played, shove now. Normally, shove pre.

^^Agree...

Don't want to give a free card away here and could get called by a worse hand...plus lots of chips in the pot to take down...

If I shove here what am I aiming to achieve?

Two folds and win 6,000 chips I guess?

But I've already got one caller who may have limped in with any of the many hands that are not only better than 10J, but he's likely to call me with some of those that he would fold if he had no investment in the pot.

I was confident that the BB would check his option. He'll still be doing that when he's only got 1.5 BBs left.

I accept, because better players than I have already said it, that shoving is optimal, but...and pardon my coninuing ignorance, isn't that only the optimal play if your opponents understand what you're doing?
