Chris Bruce told me a little story that Ben Vinson has started off tonight with a well timed bluff. Vinson called a raise preflop from the small blind and then check/raised a c-bet from 500 to 1,100 on a K-T-4 board, before firing 3,000 on the 6 turn and moving in on the board pairing Ten river. His opponent passed K-Q at the end, Ben showing a missed Q-J but increasing his stack by almost 50% straight from the off.

DTD in full swing.

On a flop, Rick Trigg calls a 700 bet from the button that the big blind makes, the small blind also makes the call. The turn is the and it's checked to Trigg who bets 1,600. The small blind calls and the big blind folds. The river is the after a third check from the small blind, Trigg throws out 3,200 and elicits a fold from his opponent.

Next to this table is a rather tough looking one with Tom Rutter, Lawrence Gosney, Alex Martin, Andrew O'Flaherty and Maria Demetriou. The last of these forced to fold to a 1,100 bet on the river of a three diamonds board.

Aces Good/Aces Bad...

Another alternate gets a seat thanks to Robert Spencer's busting some preflop Kings: (here's Spencer with the glasses), but again, it's the player on the left who's maxing the accidental photo op (Luke Hallinan?) looking like he's dressed for wandering soulfully through the snow in a music video.

Elsewhere, my attention is caught by Neil Pickering (pictured top) throwing in a very odd-looking bet of 625 into a pot of over 5,000 on the river with the board reading Two Diamonds.  This sent his opponent (no name yet, sorry) into the tank.  A puzzled-looking half minute later and he simply threw in the call, having initially checked the river... Pickering showed , but his opponent's took the pot, after it actually looked shaky for a brief moment!

Pete Linton has already doubled up, managing to find a person willing to stack off with A-J on a J-7-3 board against his 7-7.

"How does he do it?" I asked Nick Hicks.

Nick shrugged, "I'm already on tilt."

Pete, "Did I tell you about the sick move I made last month with 7-2o, where I floated a reraise on the flop?"

Me, "Did it work?"

Pete, "No."

Alex Martin is finding he can't bluff here at DTD.

He flatted a 225 bet from the big blind on a two spades two hearts flop in a 4 way limped pot, while the other players in the pot, Tom Rutter and Maria Demetriou both passed. On the turn he called again, to the tune of 400 before firing out 1,200 on the river after it was checked to him.

But he grimaced with all the chagrin of a man caught molesting a donkey when this river bet was called by the big blind's , forced to tap the table in submission.

Old McDonald flopped a set...
Ai Ai; NO!

On a board of , the money went in as Thomas McDonald (top) bet 2k, raised all-in by his shorter-stacked opponent David Bielby.  "Ace-Jack?"  "Yes," was the only chat they had time for as McDonald's saw the crucial final card come the , giving Bielby's the winning hand, and the table something to raise their eyebrows about, in that way that poker players do when something grim happens to someone else...

The all-ins, once started, just keep coming.  Some are more dramatic than others -

Just now Anthony Nicholls got Tony Salmon all in on a board in dominating shape with to Salmon's .  The turn was uneventful, but one of two Queens, the only help left available to him, popped out on the river.  Nicholls jumped like he'd been administered an electric shock, and briefly avoided the paparazzi's ever-watchful eye.  Briefly.

49 tables full - we never expected this. I'm sitting here at home following the updates until things die down a bit! Wish more people had bought in online - we might have been able to arrange more table and dealers if we knew in advance that so many people wanted to play. I hope most of the 65 alternates get in, as I know some people will have travelled a long way.
