What a hilarious couple hours i've just had. So I pull up outside the bookies still in my courtesy car, and I get a phone call from the garage. They tell me I can pick up my car today if I want to... I make some excuse that I am not about today as, I have not got the excess on me and am waiting for a cashout from skybet before I could pay it! I have £100 in my pocket and that is it till I get the cashout.
So I go in bookies and I just mess about really, betting £10 wins or £5 each way. Get a 5/1 winner in a £10 double I had and the second dog goes on to lose by a head, sigh. Then I go onto the next race, and I get a funny look when I lump £60 on this 3 dog at 4/1. It binks in, result. Shibb. Next race im on again, £100 @ 5/2 now, the dream of me being able to spin up to my excess (£750) is well in my thoughts.
Boom, trap 3 again, shipp.. Thats £550 I have in my pocket now. Hmm, what to do, only £200 to go now... So I make a treble attempt which, if wins, will cop my excess. £80 @ 3/1. Damn, loser, it was due.
Now I am not one for quitting while i'm ahead, so continued to play. I had £30 on a horse @ 4/1 which Brent text me about which just got beat and then put £120 on a 4/1 shot again to bink in the excess but he gets beat, sigh. The dream is rapidly turning into a vision of me sad at losing this money back. Should I just quit now with my £350 I have in my pocket? Should I bollocks.
Next dog race and I look at the 3 dog. I study it over.. Because it has a bad looking draw I turn myself to the 9/4f Trap 6. I lump £200 on, but also can't resist the value of Trap 3 and bink £50 on at 4/1 as a saver. I hand the guy my bet, walk away from the counter, and look at my slip for some unknown reason, normally it just goes straight in the back pocket. I see I have written down Trap 4 for £50 win by accident. SHIT. I run back to the counter and say to the guy what I meant, and he kindly has no problem at changing it for me. The race starts and 6 falls out, marv. 3 pings though, and the 4 dog turns second to it. Shit... Somehow, and I don't know how, but 3 holds on and I get my money back for the bet thanks to the guy behind the counter allowing me to change moments before the race.
I now have a second lifeline. And not to waste it I looked at the next race, 630m at Monmore. Trap 4 stormed home in his last outing in

and wasn't penalised by the grader. I think it is a cert so bink £350 @ 6/4 on it to get my excess, my last bullet! I text horner and tell him and he tells me he has £70 @ 3.1 on BF. The lids go up and 4 is first to appear. OI OI i think in my head.. I expected us to come off the pace but to lead we have no trouble in winning here! Then, for some reason, he runs off the 2nd bend and the 6 dog gets inside him. We are still in 2nd but down the far side and the 6 dog is 6 lengths in front. Finally round the 5th bend we start making some ground and by the straight we are on level terms, all it takes is for us to push and we are there. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS, GTFI.
I walk to the counter and collect my £875. I give the guy behind the counter a £20 tip and we are all happy

I immediately leave the shop and ring the garage to tell them change of plan I can pick up today! He tells me that he drove it round the block and the rear brake thing is warped and it needs changing. Marvellous! Apparently he can have it done in an hour and I should still be able to pick my car up late this afternoon. Weeeeeeeeeeee.
