Today is weigh in day...
I woke up at 9.30 this morning with the intention of going for a walk until i looked outside to see some torrential conditions.
It's water. It won't kill you.
Tomorrow might be windy, the day after too sunny, the day after will be your time of the month, etc.
My Grandad always use to say ''your skins waterproof is it not''.
Technically, no it isn't.
Alright it's got little holes in it smart arse.
It's not exactly a sponge though is it?
Girgy. Have you heard of an umbrella? They're quite remarkable inventions that keep water away from you.
My grandad always used to say "there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing"

Didn't see what the weather was like earlier cos I'm never up at that sort of time. But if it's desribed as "torrential conditions" then an umbrella isn't really any help..

No, the skin itself isn't waterproof. When you sit in the bath, the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet absorb water. The reason the rest of your skin doesn't absorb the water is because of the oils that the skin produces that effectively waterproofs the skin. If you rubbed lard into your hands and feet before you have a bath they won't go all prune-like as they won't absorb water as they would normally. So the little holes in your skin actually help to make it more waterproof, not less.

I hope this acts as a lesson to Girgy though. Miss your walks, and the thread gets hijacked.

I typed that exact phrase into google, and:
its something called: Osmosis....which is the movement of water from one area to another. Water moves out from your hands and feet and makes them wrinkly. The difference between hands & feet..and other body parts, is that your hands and feet have an extra layer of skin.
Now you know.
