9th tonight for 50quid payout (Sat 7th Feb).

Willie Tann was there tonight on cash.    In Luton though, it sure looked like him, people pointing him out etc, tannoy even called him for cash BUT   Luton?Huh?  Probably having my leg pulled lol.

He goes there now and then. He's not the rarest sight, say, every other month or so. Sometimes a little more often.

Willie used to go to the old Luton a lot. If my memory servers he lives in Hemel. He even used to hand out lessons in the old Tuesday night rookie comps. Of course they cost but they did give you the opportunity to learn......

Holdyfoldy, no result on here for Friday or Saturday as yet. I'll wait for them to appear before updating the scores. Let me know if I forget your points after that though.
Willie Tann? Phumph, at Luton you get the chance to play with The Sicilian, who once knocked the Tann man off a hand with junk, but doesn't like to talk about it.
There will be no report on yesterday's $500 deepstack, not now, not ever. Suffice to say I was chomping on a chili dog at Binion's before 2pm.
Always like to try and get to the Horseshoe once each trip but no good in the tournament. A lot of oldies playing, including one I bust early, raising utg with 35 and getting him to stick it all in on a 2246J board. He didn't seem that impressed with my hand selection.
And then it finally happened. Big field for the Venetian $120 last night and ended up chopping it as third stack for the best part of $2000.
I was starting to get worried. Can you imagine how bad you'd need to be to go through an entire Vegas trip without cashing once...?
This tourney took a different pattern, not getting a stack early, hitting a 5% shot on the river to stay alive (99 v AQ) and then doubling up with AA v 1010.
The final table thievery was pleasing. It started with the button raising my BB and me re-rising with THE hand, 39 sooooted. That took some doing after 39 had finally let me down for half my stack at the 100-200 level. I was shocked. He had KK and I missed completely. I'm going to have to sit it down and have a chat.
Not playing the $1000 this afternoon, bit short of sleep, so hitting the $500 at Caesars instead after a kip. Looks a good one, 50-minute levels and they should get a decent field today, with a lot of the deepstackers priced out of the Venetian.

I would like to apologise to my beloved 39 suited for those scandalous comments I made the other night. It was a heat-of-the-moment outburst and things are back on track after we rediscovered our love for each other in last night's Venetian $120. I'm sorry my love, never again.
I saw the mighty hand twice on the spin, re-raising the first time and getting a shove through on a ten high flop, then raising and getting another shove through on an 8-high flop. Such is the power of 39 suited it doesn't need to connect with a board in order to prosper. Ask Dave Gregory.
That was a roller coaster last night, going from 8,000 down to 2,200 and then up to 35,000 before doing the lot in one hand.
The exit hand was fair enough. Blinds 600-1,200, I made it 4,200 with AQ clubs and got called by an asian dude, the other big stack, who was desperate to take me on. Flop of 962 two clubs was pleasing, but he decided his 9 10 was good enough to call 7,000 on the flop and another 24,000 on the turn (3 hearts). He was right. Ho hum.
Yesterday's $500 at Caesar's was a washout in truth. Only 67 players, which was disappointing given they should have picked up a few who couldn't afford the $1,000 at the Venetian (which got 97). That poker room is struggling at the moment. A few years ago it was buzzing but it was like a morgue yesterday. The Venetian is THE poker capital of Vegas now, no question.
It's looking like the weather back home is about to improve, so three more $340 deepstackers before returning. There's still time to win one...

I refer the honourable shove monkey back to the opening post on this magnificent thread...

Points awarded...similar to the Grand Prix scoring system. This total would be divided by the number of tournaments played.

It's very rare for me to give details of bad beats here, in fact I can never remember having done so...lol
I'm not going to start making it a regular diary feature now but have to report on yesterday's Deepstack happenings in brief. Good start, up from 12,000 to 20,000 within half an hour, and then...
Blinds still 25-50, utg decides to limp with JJ and then check an AJ6 flop four ways. I have K10 in the SB. The turn is a Q. I check. UTG bets 250. Button calls. I make it 750. UTG goes all in for another...8,000. Hmm, will bad play be rewarded with that 23% shot coming good? FFS.
Guy two to my left was hopeless and he knocked me further back before taking me out.
First, I have 44 out of the SB in a four-way pot, around 2,500 in the middle. Flop JJ6 checked round. Turn a 3 so I stick out 1,400. He calls. River a king, we both check. He turns over K8.
About an hour passes, blinds now 200-400. I limp the button with 10 4 spades. SB makes it up, BB donk checks. Flop 10 4 2. BB donk bets 1,000, I make it 2,800, he puts me all in for my remaining 7,000. I call. He has 10 K. Turn is king spades, no flush for me on the river. Marvellous.
It happens though. KOL had a cracker on Friday, and it would have needed to be in order for him to recount it. He calls a raise with 10 3 clubs. Low flop gives him a pair and a flush draw. He manages to get it all in v AA (no clubs). Turn is the ace of clubs. River is the other ace to give the guy quads. 'Hey man, the best hand won right?'.
Not a lot to report from last night's $120. Got knocked out by a French Woody Allen lookalike who shrugged his shoulders and called me shove monkey AQ all in with J10.
On the same table was an old guy who finished runner-up in a WPT a few years ago, and boy did he like to talk about it. Handing out reviews of his books and banging on about hands he'd played.
It was a vision of the future, like listening to The Sicilian in 30 years time. 'Did I tell you about the time I chased home Nick Salad at Luton? Or the time Dan the fish cracked my aces with quad tens?' And so on...
