Went for my induction and free health check today.

Was more in depth than I expected, and they gave me a 14 page print out with all sorts of info on it including blood sugar levels, cholesterol blood pressure etc etc.  It was quite comprehensive, I met a chap who asked me what I wanted to achieve etc and he has set me up on a 6 week program which focuses on weight loss.

I am happy with this and the sessions are mainly around CV which I don't mind, after 6 weeks depending on progress I am going to arrange to meet him again to talk about including more weight based training but for the time being its going to be mostly running, swimming and cycling.

My current weight is 115kg which is obese due to my hight of 184cm, need to sort this first and foremost, being in the overweight category is my goal.  Bit weird to be aiming just to be 'overweight' but its something to aim for.

I've decided that quitting online poker was stupid so I'm giving up on that.

Anybody who wants to claim a grand can f**k off. You're not having it, I'm grimming you.

I'm definitely going to cut down on the expensive sessions and by expensive I mean a couple of hundred quid.

If I was playing regularly and concentrating it'd be fine but the truth is I get bored after a short while and just spew my stacks.

In order to keep things cheap I have set myself a little challenge which I will update on here.

Through playing a few hours of .50/1 plo rush I've managed to amass 28900 ftps.

Just shows how much rake they rip out of this game. I really haven't played much at all. It's no wonder online poker's slowly going to shit.

So I'm going to use my ftps to purchase as many step 1 tickets as I can. It works out at 38 tickets.

I'm going to see how high up the steps ladder I can get with these. If by some miracle I get to step 5 I might cash in and buy a load more step 1s. Will play it by ear though.

While ever I have a step 1 ticket in my possession I will only play step 1s. Once they've gone I'll play whatever 2s I have and I'll see how high I can get.

The comps I'll be playing are the 6, 9 and 18 man turbos. I won't play any others because they last longer than my boredom threshold.

Starting now.

I'd advise you take at least another month off from any online poker. I remember feeling exactly the same about poker a couple of years ago and just wasn't enjoying it at all but kept playing and playing badly, mostly out of boredom. Really get the hunger back before playing again. If you go back to playing now I'd guess you'll be sick again within a couple of sessions.

Training has gone well so far this week.

Obviously yesterday I started my dumbell pressing quest and that session went well.

Today I've trained legs and it was a good session. After legs I did some triceps work to help out the dumbell quest.

4 sets of assisted dips and 4 sets of pushdowns and I felt pretty good. The dips were a lot harder than they used to be. It's surprising how difficult it is to lift your own bodyweight but I'll get there before long.

I've got a physio session tomorrow on my day off. I have a few recurring injuries that I can feel coming on since I've been back. They're managable if I have regular physio so that's back on now I'm training.

One is my left leg. My leg displaces itself out of it's hip socket. It's not as painful as it sounds but it makes some nasty cracking and crunching type noises. The pain is actually in my lower back where something is compensating. A little adjustment soon pops it back and it stays there for quite a while.

The other is my left shoulder. It's a similar thing where something just pops out of where it belongs. Again not painful but needs putting right before it becomes painful. If left this becomes very painful through my neck and back.

Through years of training I've learnt a lot about how my body works so I know very well when I can push and when I can't. At the moment I'm fine but I need a service to keep it that way.

Everything is looking very positive at the moment and I'm very confident of continuing this.

Happy times Smiley

I know what you mean mate but it won't be a problem.

I never had 'the hunger' anyway so I don't expect that to turn up any time soon.

I'll keep playing and I'm happy with playing badly out of boredom.

As long as I'm not spewing too much money I really don't mind.

If I get sick within a couple of sessions I'll just quit again Cheesy

Have you never really enjoyed playing it then ?

Think you said early you don't play to win money, no rub meant, but if that's the case why do you play then ?

Surely there are other things to do than poker if it is solely just boredom, could go to the gym and get fit.

Do you prefer live pokers to online ?

My eating's been very good since I started back training.

Generally everything's been healthy but not restrictive and I've avoided too much bad stuff.

Tonight I decided to treat myself to a kebab and it was gorgeous!! I haven't had a proper doner kebab for ages and I've wanted one for a long time.

So tonight after dog school I had a doner kebab with mild chili sauce and a small portion of chips.

After eating well in general a little treat like this is no problem at all. In fact I think it's essential or you start to hate what you eat.

The only thing with this is it takes me back to last year when I had my last attempt at getting back to the gym.

It was a kebab which kickstarted the ultimate failure of that so I have to make sure it doesn't get repeated.

Obviously last year I didn't have the motivation of having to ship Cos a grand so it will be much easier this time round.

Yes I've definitely enjoyed it in the past. I used to play quite regularly and did reasonably well when I was doing it properly and concentrating 100% on every session. That was when I was being backed by Blatch. Playing with someone else's money (the betfair stakers as it happens Cheesy) meant that I had to play properly.

I obviously want to win but the desire to win isn't there at the moment when I play online. After a while I get bored and just think "f**k it!" This is what I meant when I said I don't play to win money. I'm just not that bothered.

I'll have a think about that gym idea. Sounds like a good alternative.

I prefer playing live by a long way. I like to be able to interact with real people and I have a real desire to win.

Haha

Sigh Matt, just sigh...

I would never want to try and claim your grand, but people seem to promise anything they like these days, because they know they can just renege at the drop of a hat, and no one will bat an eyelid.

I think anyone else who makes rash motivational bets should have to escrow the money in future. Not because I want it you understand, but so that the statement means something.

Don't take offence Matt, I'm just bustin your balls.

You know what Tom you're right and I thank you for pulling me up on it.

As of now I am quitting quitting quitting poker.

The bet's back on with the escrow being Booder.

I'm not giving anybody any of my money to look after but he has some of it anyway in the form of his MU.

I reserve the right to play in satellites to live comps though and also to do my ftp thing for a bit of fun.

I also don't want to have to post on here to justify any game I play before playing it.

Tom. As you are so righteous and have never done anything naughty in your life you can be the judge as to whether any claim for the grand is justified.

If there is an attempted claim I will tell you my reason for playing.

"Because I had nothing better to do" results in a legitimate claim.

"Because me and Hopkin fancied a prop to see who was buying the curries" results in a false claim.

If you need clarification on any rules just ask.

Congratulations on your new role.

I've been pretty on the money with mine too since I started officially Jan 3rd, I weighed in at 16st 7 then and tonight 1 month on I am now 15st 12. I'm really happy with this as I can't do any cycling/running or even walking after I train, 9lbs in a month is more than I expected tbh.

I've still not had a kebab/curry/chinese or anything that remotely resembles a takeaway. Given my liking for anything that involves a delivery driver it's a shock how easy I have found it. I did have a chorizo snacking binge on Sunday night along with a McDonalds Milkshake and McFlurry though Cheesy

My only motivation is a bunch of clothes I bought in 2009 when I got down to 14 stone that were quite expensive now don't fit. Also the final straw was when I replaced those last summer and as of November they didn't fit either lol. I reckon all being well I should be on track to at least hit 15 stone by easter and 14 by Vegas!!

Hey Matt, I wasn't pulling you as such, I was just lamenting the fact that we can't take these type of statements seriously.

I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with being called righteous. If I was a gambling man, I would wager that I've been naughtier than you would imagine by a factor of about 10.

I do consider myself to be honourable though, so I'm going to pretend that's what you meant.

If you really want me to adjudicate, I will need more info re the rules.

Are you at DTD this weekend?
