Nice tekkers there and yeah that is some weight!!

Lad I used to train with occasionally was a beast on bench, I remember he  did 200kg for 1 rep just after I started and I was like wtf as I racked up my 60kg having been training a couple weeks Cheesy

Wow! Absolute beast!!

There was a group of about 5 lads in the gym last week who were doing some really heavy benching. not quite 200kg but I saw one doing 4 plates so 180kg.

Bit surprising for a student gym that. They all had those power lifting suits on though which are supposed to add a hell of a lot to your maximum lift.

Yeah he was only about 20 at the time too which was even more ridiculous, he's a juicer though and was about 18 stone. He used to do 180 for a few reps though and 160 for 6.

I'm not sure exactly what the coup is with those suits and I'll never be shifting any kind of weight that will need one Cheesy

They also add a huge amount to the possibility of the person being a huge bender.

Andrew Sheridan who admittedly looks like he may have dropped a few weights on his head in the past holds my school bench press record that no-one even gets near.

Before he left the school he could bench 180kgs. Pretty fking sick for someone who was 18.

He chose rugby over a career in powerlifting but this is from his wiki...

'Sheridan is 1.95 m (6 ft 5 in) tall, which is unusually tall for a prop, and weighs 125 kg (19 st 10 lb). He is known for his great physical strength – he is a near-elite class powerlifter and able to bench press 225 kilograms (33 st, over 495 lb) and squat 275 kilograms (over 600 lb).[3]'

Would be a lot easier if you could just lose another 8kg. Mission accomplished already then Smiley

This got me thinking a bit as well.

A powerlifting competition at a school seems pretty irresponsible.

Was it just an unofficial thing between the lads that went to the gym Cos?

There was no powerlifting competition but it's a very big rugby school and its taken very seriously. All the guys in the first and second XV teams are expected to train in the gym. Most are given training programmes to follow and record their progress. Forwards in the first team were meant to be at least 15 stone iirc.

The sports teachers that ran all the teams etc kept a close eye on everything and it's an unwritten school record that sheridan's bench press before he left the school was significantly bigger than any boy before or after him. one boy in my year could do 1 rep of 150kgs and he was an animal shaped like a human barrel to put into context how fkin strong sheridan is.

Bump time!!!

It's been a few months since I trained properly but I'm officially back on it as of 7am tomorrow. There's been a few injuries, a busy spell at work, an involvement with a young lady and a few other random excuses but from now on training has to come first.

I won't be doing anything particularly special with the diet as I'm eating pretty well anyway. My first target will be to hit the 50kg dumbells again as soon as possible.

Plan is to do 4 days a week which is the same as when I was doing my prop with Cos. Whether I can stick to it without the cash incentive is yet to be seen but here's hoping.

Not sure how popular this thread will be as the fatties have their own now but I'll be posting dumbell updates the same as I used to for my own benefit.

Planned routine:

Monday - Arms
Tuesday - Chest (including dumbell challenge)
Wednesday - Shoulders
Thursday - Back
Friday - Day off (because Thursday night is curry + 5 lagers night)
Saturday - Legs (Optional depending on what I do Friday night)

Should be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow. I fully expect to be knackered and not enjoy myself one bit!!
