Where we at now with who's gonna win? We so many favs going out I'm happy with my Vanrooney ante post position, also still got Holdem Spy, droopy's Odell, Ecclestone and Airport Captain for small stakes on bf.

Unfortunately I've not been able to see any of the races! Could do with a steer on some longer priced ones that could make an improvement.

Airport Captain and Vanrooney left for me.

I'm going to look during the week to see if there's any more value to be had but Airport Captain is going to win anyway.

You really think so? 66-1 4 places worth a few quid more then.

It was a statement of hope since he's a decent winner for me. Think there is better early to come from him though.

I managed to get a few quid matched @ 17.5 on Fiery Splendour before the last round and he's looked really impressive to me in both of his runs but he's still available @ 9 on betty.

I think he should be shorter although the next round is tougher.

Also dabbled on Roxholme Ted @ 40 but not so confident now although he did win his heat seems to lack a bit of power, hardly surprising as he's still a pup.

Scotty. With many of the top names seemingly going by the wayside I am surprised The Camel dog (Keith) is still so big in the market. Also surprised TFT dog Holdem Spy price holding up too.

Any reason or have they just not impressed so far?

Holdem Spy's price is from 25s pre-comp and with the rest of the market movement that seems about right. He has impressed enough, just failing to pick up in the first round before winning with ease in 2nd. He's one of my favourites, as you mentioned TfT were on him thanks to Arbboy for the Scottish but we were also on him last year at 80s for the Derby where he was super unlucky in going out by a head in the semis.

The kind of general thoughts I have about these competitions, and the Derby in particular, is that you see some greyhounds scoot clear in the early rounds when not up against true top class opponents and in some cases that can be difficult for the strong runners like Spy to grind down the deficit, especially on the fast tracks. But in the latter rounds when the majority of the greyhounds are of high quality you are less likely to see runners get clear runs meaning a positive for the strong runners, especially the wide seeded ones in my eyes.

Re: Swift Keith - when I previewed the competition I picked him out as the best of the sub 20/1 options and that has in a sense proven true with most of the others gone e.g. Kereight King. I guess it's easy to say I've not been convinced by him and whilst he has looked strong in his races after not getting the best breaks that kind of style won't work for him in latter rounds and he'll need to show improved early. Can definitely improve on what he has done so far. Price might be right at the moment.

Thinking about getting involved Adz?

Thanks Scotty.

Did your three and HS as I recalled how far he took us last year.

TBH I only start watching from about now once the skirmish rounds are done, hence the timing of the post.

I shall continue to follow your picks as the expert sir. GL

The outrights have definitely been tough. Think I put 6 or 7 up on BetPal and I'm left with Vanrooney who is as short as 5/1 (33/1 rec) so that one looks pretty anyway and then Airport Captain who hasn't done much and is 66/1 from 100/1 - still think he has more to offer.

Going to give it a good look in the next day or two to try and find the best that's left.

Good luck with Spy, great dog.

That first quarter-final is a proper heat of death, almost final quality.

I'd hate to see any of the top three go out as they're all first-class hounds.

One more sleep..

Well from a betting point of view I'm with you on the six, FieryS. I have him and RoxholmeT in the outright.

Was merely speaking with my sporting hat on.
