Bald first up with 1/4 final prices for Tuesday.

https://www.oddschecker.com/greyhounds/ante-post

Feels quite insane to be on the front 4 in the market at 50/1 bruisers (straight after last year's final night) 33/1 Wildcat 66/1 Brandy and 50/1 Verve.  Couple of others been donked off including Bonucci.

How great would it feel to have them all in the final, a real chance of that happening and what a race it would be, as long as BB is in T2.

Surprise to see Wildcat not odds on

10bet are ool on the top 4 in the market ie 10.0 wildcat where it is 6.0 everywhere else, chance they have mixed up Bruisers and Bombers as well. Not sure they can call it a palp at these prices.

Actually looking at some of their prices they are ool on a few Whoops Jack is 34.0 instead of 16.0 same as Bubbly Bluebird. Higher on Crossfield Will by 12 points.

Any thoughts on this Arb?

They look like stale prices from before Saturday's card to me.

I’m really not happy with some of the things I’ve been reading about how Towcester track was set up on Saturday for racing. In general the track for the last few months was running at normal or -10. On Saturday morning for racing it was +20 which you can see must have been the case for the 3rd round that night as 11/12 races the dog that lead won (the only exception being Dorotas Vic which arguably had the weakest heat). So the issue I have is why change it to a fast surface now? If the track normally run like this then I wouldn’t have an issue but why the sudden change.

Anyway if the track continues to be so fast it certainly sets it up for the quicker sectional dogs (Wildcat/Elvis) with very little chance of any back runs. As such it will be watching brief for me tonight and hopefully the track will return to what it normally is. Suppose that depends on what trainers have complained.

The track was always going to be set up quicker.  No dog had broke 29 seconds and they want the fast times for pr right?  The sponsors probably demand it.

Wondering whether Hutton's break in at his kennels and 5 dogs going missing (3 found 2 still missing) will have affected the time he has had to prepare his dogs for the quick turnaround Saturday to Tues?  Surely it must have used up a fair chunk of his time and his dogs can't be as tip top as they would like to be tonight?

I also considered this angle. I felt Wildcat was a bet but this held me back.

Had a stab at Newinn Shadow in first.

My views

Heat 1

t1 and t6 look too slow to win this.  I think t1 will stop t2 getting a run and at the prices t2 looks a solid lay to me.  Not convinced t3 will bingo again tonight like Saturday.  Could be trouble on the inside for me as t4 is a railer as well.  If t4 is slow away as usual then it could miss the trouble and power home late on the inside.  At the prices i could only lay the front 2 and play t4 to small stakes.

heat 2

Wildcat has been backed off the boards today in t1.  Easy to see why apart from the Hutton factor.  t2 and t3 look drawn the wrong way around and could do each other early.  t5 looks booked for an early solo out wide boxed between two kippers and could be a solid place only punt around the 2/1 mark or bigger based on the current price.

Heat 3

Surprised at the price of Bruisers in this heat relative to Verve.  Bruisers surely will lead up on the rail.  He has plenty of sub 5.20 sectionals on his card over C&D.  I think Verve should be marginal fav but the gap looks too big to me and Bullet has to be the bet at 2/1 v 5/4 Verve.

Heat 4

Brandy has a solid form line with Bruisers over the last two runs so depending on how burisers runs v Verve in the previous race should give us a good indication of what to expect in this race.   Bombers bullet looks badly draw to me between t1 and t3 early and i am not convinced by Whoops in t6 here at really top top class level.
Very hard to get away from Brandy here as long as the young improving pup has recovered from Saturday.  Looks the only worry to me.  Skybet are 6/5 currently which seems very fair to me.

This is the link online or channel 431 on the sky box.  First quarter final is 809pm and final one is 857pm.  Worth tuning in for an hour on a very quiet night of sport if you are a casual viewer.  This is as good as it gets dog racing wise.

Quite possibly a dash of wishful thinking on my part as Wildcat is the one glaring omission from my little portfolio but there does seem to be a hell of a lot of early pace in this heat. It's not impossible there is a big pile-up at the first bend, but still hard to envisage Wildcat not qualifying.

I might just have another dabble at a bigger price on Dorotas Misclick - but on purpose this time.

The Verve v Bruisers race is fascinating as the latter seems unbeatable when he pops out nicely, but he doesn't always do that whereas Verve seems a very consistent trapper - no bet for me.

I've played small on Borna Gin in the first heat @11/4*.

* I can see why Arb thinks this is a lay and I didn't like the look of it's make-up at first glance but the dog strikes me as being very clever and track-craft might well win the day in what could well be a messy race - cue the jolly pinging in 5.05 and doing the clock Smiley
