Anyone have a view on tonight's irish derby heats?
Had a quick look at the early races and barefoot Apollo looks really well drawn in the first, although Holdem spy might do him home.
Droopy ward comes in with a nice trial in the second and should win.
Mind the net looks a good thing.
Ward wins, ante post at 66-1 so happy with that. Well done Micko

On the wolf in the next, think he'll get the corner from Buckleys dog and hopefully power home.

Some good picks by you last night Micko well done, make sure you join in on the RPGTV nights that we have started to do more, I'll probably be looking to do most Friday nights on here shortly. Couldn't watch the racing but my twitter feed showed that Mind the Net was electric speed, some dog, especially if he makes the final of this (Scottish and English as well). Seems Droopys Nidge is the pup they all have to beat although a lot sounded abit disappointed that he only won by 3 lengths. Think Scotty is waiting to see all the first round before putting up a write up (hopefully). Glad Droopys Ward went through, my NAP lost but Borneo won and my two lays came in so not a bad night.

Certainly will and looking forward to Scotty's write up.
I missed Nidges race but getting through is the main thing, no doubt he will improve every run.
I see droopys ward and mind the net have been drawn together in the next round.

After re watching the last heats of the greyhound Irish Derby I've got a little book together
Droopys Ward (ante post 66-1ticket) 33/1 think there is still value in this, 25-1 feels about right so I've top up. Is running well, likes The track by the looks of it and as long as he gets the inside as much as possible (t1 next heat) he is consistent enough to go far in comp. is drawn in Mind the Net's heat next up which if he wins the price will slash ( of course only has to qualify which I would expect both to do, can't back The Net at the price)
Laughil Blake 16-1, Ran the fastest time of the heats and looked very solid, think he should be a few points lower (12-1) so I'm happy to add him to the portfolio.
General Wolf 40-1, quite impressed with his latest run, look very strong, think the price available with 1/4 top 6 is certainly worth it, can see him getting to the final.
Borneo, 50-1, Thought his last run was good considering it was off late and he is know as bad at kennelling, went off at 9/4 and a few people reckon if he was up early he would have been odds on, if we take away the problem with the kenneling, the 50-1 with hills seems a bit ool so I'm happy to have a smaller bet on him.
Honour and Glory 125-1, didn't win it's heat, but I good second to an impressive General Wolf, he did have to check at the 3rd bend and the race was messy at the start, but he still has form in the locker which he has shown at Clomel. Happy to pick up the 125-1 as a nice looking outsider.
Good luck and will obviously re asses after the next round (have also put win only bets on bf if the price is considerably higher)
Hopefully Scotty will be putting a few up soon.

Tonight's Derby Heats.
21:00 I like Laughil Blake at 11/10, think this goes off odds on, fastest in previous heats, likes box 6, T4 has early but will swing inside at the first , T1 and T2 will probably make the race hard work for each other early doors. All this sets the race up for Blake.
22:00 Don't think Emers Superstar will like running a week after it's last run, price is too short for me so I'll be laying this at around 6/4, seems to be a lot of pace in T1 and T5 which might also make it difficult for T6. Just the lay for me in this.
22:15 At the price I'm going with Shaneboy Frankie at 6-1, it might need a bit of trouble to win but it has got a very nice draw in T1 and he ran a great race last week.
21:30 I've also had an interest on Penny's Deanridge at 9/2, tough race with Holdem Spy and Skywalker Farloe, but Penny's ran a great race last week and she seems to be flying so at the prices I'm happy to have a small bet.
General Wolf, tough race so I'm happy with it just qualifying although I have had a small ice cream on at 9/2. Backed Deanridge Penny's last week and it ran a stinker, not sure it will win tonight and not keen on the 5/4, may end up laying it if it goes a lot shorter. Like both Ardfet Tee Jay and Jaytee Opsrey but may go with T6 just because of the draw and 888 are 3-1, not 100% sure yet.
Good luck all.

Was looking to oppose Kippers Usain at 20:30 and a guy I follow on Twitter who is more right than wrong has said he is having a big bet on T1 at 4-1. Had a little squeeze myself.

Can't watch the racing but reports are showing that the track is very fast so may be a few surprises, got the value on Laughlin Blake as it returned 4/5...... But came 2nd, Deanridge Penny's was 3rd so they lay was right and Kippers Usain won but from what I can tell T1 was leading and went lame or got cramp at the last vend, bit unlucky.

Some tough heats last night and results where all over the place. My two ante posts qualified Laughin Blake and General Wolf but both came second so losing bets on the night, General Wolf came 2nd to a 20-1 shot. Got both Lays right in Deanridge Penny's and Emers Superstar. Shaneboy Frankie returned 5-1 in 3rd, not sure what happen but looking forward to watching the replays.

There a few interesting races tonight at Romford tonight like that one. I looked briefly last night before bed and looking forward to working them out today.

The two really interesting races for me at Romford tonight are the 10:26 that Omm brought up where Dower Matt takes on Isheforreal and last week's conqueror Viva Las Bocko, and the bitches race at 9:40 where two time thread NAP Genesis Demester battles against Borna Karma, an off-thread winner for me last week at 11/4, and Evanta Fantasy.
Touching on the first mentioned race, there's quite a few things to take in to consideration. Dower Matt is an awesome Romford dog and I was lucky enough to catch him in his excellent run last to make a few pennies but clearly isn't "match fit" and finished a disappointing 4th last week off a reasonable sectional where he was able to lead at one point in the race. Most reports think he will come on for that, which he will, but will it be significantly? Isheforreal won a nice race last week, beating Demester, but looks he like he simply has to lead a race to win it - which is lucky for supporters as he leads a lot of races. However, coming from trap 3, will he lead Dower Matt who comes from trap 1? Both are gifted with excellent early pace, but Dower Matt in his prime can take lengths out of the field in less than 4 seconds and has a number of sub 3:60s splits on his record. The other greyhound for this race that I mentioned was Viva Las Blocko who I have discounted for this race - he comes from 6 but has "mid" all over his races and has two wide seeds on his inner who actually run wide and both can break well and pace up.
That was a fair bit of writing to say that I was unlikely to back anything in the race at this stage but by discounting VLB I actually think I might like a small bet on
Forest Skippy
at 8/1. Finished less than a length behind Isheforreal last week and if Dower Matt does lead Isheforreal then Skippy can lead out wide (he might just pace up better than Minstrel who can't fancy trap 4) and pick them off. Maybe. Maybe Dower Matt finds a few extra lengths but is already sub 2/1, maybe Isheforreal pings out. Few maybes, I'll take a chance at 8/1.
In the other race I initially wanted to be with Evanta Fantasy at 3/1 and she's been backed this morning into 5/2 already. Great draw to work from in trap 1 and has put some good times on the clock. Genesis Demester disappointed last week and could bounce back but I imagine she'll just act as a shield for Borna Karma to get a nice run out wide early from trap 6. I'm torn between the two book ends in this one - Borna Karma is 5/2 in one place, bet365 - but in the end I have plumped for
Borna Karma
who is a great bitch to get with in form as she is very consistent. We're guaranteed a 3:70s sectional and I just think that guarantee makes her the more attractive proposition, especially given her clocking last week. I would only be backing at the 5/2.
It won't take much to lead the 8:18 race and
Kokcha Blue
looks more than likely to take an early lead in that one from trap 3. From there she would struggle to win in this field and I'd want to be backing her at 5/2 when the prices come out. Probably not any shorter though.
Final thoughts are in the 9:24 race where Themopsonspeed runs. I liked him at a price for the Derby but didn't perform and now my view is changing on him in that he might not be the top top class dog I imagined. He was able to throw his nose in front just in his last appearance here off a 3:82 but found trouble between the first and second bends and finished last. I'm going to be on
Phoebes Max
in this one, coming from trap 1 and can pace up better than the fav to lead, and I don't think the fave will go past. Bonamassa Rocks in two should prove no competition and the main threat looks likely to come from out wide where Goes Hot might be a silly price at 12s.
I'm interested in taking on Exocet with Jet Stream Duke when they price up the 9:56.
Plus, go on the 9-timer Bob!!!!
8:18 - T3 Kokcha Blue @ 5/2*
9:24 - T1 Phoebes Max @ 3/1
9:40 - T6 Borna Karma @ 5/2
10:26 - T5 Forest Skippy @ 8/1
*No prices available yet
