Views on the shield, Mr Shoelace? Thought you were working through that?

No good?

The Shield and Deadwood are essential male viewing. Both excellent, excellent shows. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I'm on hiatus, plan to return. I was blown away by the pilot but not so much by the next five or six episodes. Felt they blew their load too early.

I felt the same eventually, but it took me 3 or 4 seasons to get to that point. By the end I was trying to work out if Heroes, or The Shield was more realistic Smiley

Friday Night Lights is my favourite show ever, so for that reason I would suggest going  Oz-Deadwood-FNL

Oz is great, bit different and very violent.

Feel much the same as Barry about The Shield.  I have still got about 2/3rds of the last series to watch and, whilst I like it, I like it in the way that I like something like Life on Mars or Prime Suspect.  It wiles away a few hours but it doesn't blow me away which is a disappointment after the pilot which was incredible.  The odd individual episode lives up to the expectation but not as a whole.

As for Barry's dilemma.....that's a bit like having a room with Shakira, BeyoncĂ© and Selena Gomez in it and having to decide who to have a crack at next, actually on reflection I think I would rather have Barry's option.  Deadwood>FNL>Oz for me but they are all incredible.  Oz has dated slightly for me now but everything you have watched over the last 15 years or so and loved owes a huge debt to it and it is still very, very good.

In that situation I would probably watch Deadwood while Oz and Friday Night Lights watch each other.

Fair enough.

Btw, just seen a "quiz" show called Tipping Point. Contender for worst concept ever.

Worse than that show that used to be on ITV where the concept used to be simply picking red or black iirc?

This. Oz is not your run of the mill show, it's very good apart from a small blip in quality where they were forced to bosh out some episodes during a writers strike to fill the schedule. Otherwise consistently excellent.

Deadwood is brilliant too. Shame they couldn't make more of it.

Just finished the latest season of Justified, and thought it was pretty decent.

Got auto-renewed, but season 6 will be the last.

I enjoyed it as well. Solid viewing and really good acting throughout.

Absolutely,  both Olyphant and Goggins are excellent.

The first episode of Californication aired last night as well, for all you Moody fans Smiley

Woke up an hour earlier than usual for work so I could watch GoT.

Incredible. Totally worth it.

Now annoyed that I have to wait until this eve to see Californication and know that it won't live up to GoT.
