If you want to watch a quality British drama series, well it's Irish, then give Love/Hate a try.

There is some great British TV from over the years.  Our Friends in the North, Boys From the Blackstuff, the original House of Cards, Queer as Folk, This Life, Shameless (first few years) were all excellent and stuff like Cracker, Prime Suspect, Life on Mars, The Street, Broadchurch etc are all perfectly watchable.  I also LOVE Skins and it would prob be in my top ten ever but appreciate that isn't shared by everyone.  That said I have noticed on this trip that I literally cannot find anything to watch at all.  The only thing I have enjoyed recently is Uncle.  It just feels as though there is an overwhelming tide of reality crap and no investment into anything ambitious.  I suppose you could argue Peaky Blinders was somewhat ambitious if ultimately a bit of a mess but it is the only thing I can think of recently that has been anywhere close to the US shows.  Would echo Hectors views on Love/Hate......v v good.

Skins was bloody awesome the first 2 seasons. Season 3 was ok but Season 4 was dire and as for 5 & 6, I've seen better TV on GodTV.

Black Mirror is well worth a watch. Can't wait for season 3.

US drama is the best entertainment out there ATM, better than the movies.

I did enjoy Luther for my Brit shows though.

def agree for drama, america wins at the moment. still prefer the oddball comedies that come from britain like spaced, League of gents, green wing etc to american polished sitcoms that just try to please everyone. i expect there are some good off kilter US comedies shows out there, it's just i'm not aware of them. that said the league and its always sunny in philadelphia have both occupied a few days of my time recently...

Uncle confirmed as being quality, Babylon (Ch 4) starting soon looks promising as does Inside No9 (BBC).

Total agreement with this Tal.

It's the number one show I wish I'd written. Stupid, really, as there are so many more successful programmes, but this was just a superb balance between cutting satire, silly humour, catchphrases, running stories and the sensitive stuff. A wonderful cast, too.

Really think it's a hugely underrated show.
