Anthony Pilkington from Huddersfield, before he broke his leg in march, very good player I think, def a Champ player next year, 2 genuine feet.
Signed for Norwich today for 1.75M.
Bargain, probably double that if he hadn't bust his leg.

Yeah, is he fully fit now?
Looks to me like Norwich are assembling a top Championship squad for 12/13 if thats not an unfair comment to make

Hi Chipprince,
Not posted on here before but enjoyed the read, Whats your thoughts on my team Walsall's new signings of Ryan Jarvis, Kevan Hurst and Claude Gnakpa? and do you think we will be in a relegation dogfight again this year?
I sometimes play poker with your chairman Robbie Cowling what are the expectations this year for C United?
cheers
Gnakpa not sure I've ever seen to be fair, Hurst I know, not a big fan to be honest, no real pace. Jarvis always threatened to develop but never has, I think Walsall may struggle again this year.
I still haven't thanked Walsall for calling off the game v Norwich boxing day '09 when I was in the car park.

I've been meaning to post on here for the last few days.
The departure of Mark Robins and subsequent appointment of Keith Hill has seen Barnsley take a very distinct step towards recruiting from the lower divisions. It's risky, it will 100% ensure we start the season as relegation favourites as usual, but I'm quite intrigued to see how the new season goes. My main problem is I know virtually nothing about our new signings, apart from a little knowledge of Craig Davies via his exploits at Chesterfield last season.
Would appreciate your views on the following list of nobodies and their prospects of playing at the Championship level:
Craig Davies (Chesterfield)
David Perkins (Colchester)
Matt Done (Rochdale)
Scott Wiseman (Rochdale)
James McNulty (Brighton)
1st thing, I like Hill + Flitcroft.
Davies has bags of talent, not much brains, coul go either way, watch out for a few spectactular goals though, reminds me of Bothroyd who took a few years to sort himself out.
Perkins is a feity one, one Colchester were disappointed to lose, was missing the north though, all left foot, right character, you will like him even if he doesnt play too much.
Wiseman was the best right back I saw in L1 last year full stop.
Done is skilful, left foot, played in the hole for Rochdale, didnt get enough goals though.

Yeah he is in training etc, don't think there are major concerns long term about the injury.
I would be inclined to agree with you on paper, but Lambert isn't the kind of character who would think like that. The players we have bought are exactly the type we went for last year, just a cut above. I think his style of management is very much to inspire hungry players to play to their maximum potential and goes for players who want this.

Right, we're back! Ish.
Thanks to everyone for the comments.
I'm still doing the scouting for the forseeable future, albeit I won't be doing as many games this season it doesn't look like. My girlfriend is going back to do her final year in Uni from the 1st week in October and that is a priority for us for the next 10-12 months or so. We've decided to concentrate on that, and I'm trying to spend as much time as possible with my little boy who's 1 next week, so I am cutting down on games, I don't want to regret cramming games in as family is obv more important.
I'll be doing midweeks games, probs a couple a month, important league games as opposed to non-league and prem reserve games.
I've been to 2 pre-season games so far, Fleetwood Town V Preston and Crewe v Wolves, both a couple of weeks ago, there's a couple of photos from Fleetwood below.
I'm at Port Vale v Huddersfield this coming tuesday night for a Carling Cup game, and am down for Scunthorpe v Oldham on the 16th, a league game.
Hope all your teams enjoy a good season, and enjoy the thread, albeit with less updates than last year.
All questions welcome.

Yeah he is fairly versatile and has looked fairly impressive in pre season - hopefully will have a good year for us.
Not overly optimistic about the season now, we have only 1 recognised centre half, left back is out for 4 games suspended and right back Clyne has broken his foot.
2 or 3 defenders signed on month long loan deals but not the ideal preparation.

Tuesday 9th of August I was at Port Vale v Huddersfield for a Carling Cup Tie, I haven't been to Vale for probably a couple of years, and as you don't get parking there had to park at the top of the hill which the ground is on and walk down.
Finished 4-1 to Huddersfield who of course should go well again this year.
