To Soviet Song:   There's a big misconception that all calories are equal - but they are not - although nuts have a highly condensed calorific value they have a direct effect on our metabolism which negates some of that calorific value. Don't go on a nut binge though - although they are great in moderation they are still highly calorific.

To Soviet Song:   All calories aren't equal - the calories in some foods have a direct effect on the meatabolism, negating some of their calorific value, this is the case with peanuts as an instance, but don't go on a peanut binge as their dense calorific value - even after some negation is high. Calorie counting is for yo yo dieters, portion control, exercise and common sense is all we need.

To Kinboshi:  Note you are a photographer in Nottingham, Do you know Terry Cryer the legendary Jazz photographer from leeds, I was his darkroom assistant when he was starting out and won the feature photograher of the year in 1957. The photography game was much more complex then. My vocation was to go into Glamour photography as I was great friends with Tony Roberts who worked with Harrison Marks,
I lived in Lisle Street in Soho and Mark's studio was around the corner in Gerrard Street. Marks used to pay me sweatshop wages to work in his darkroom but for a kid of 15 printing glamour photos was a labour of love. Look up Terry's site, his photographs sell for up to a grand a time.
Started working in Terry's darkroom at the age of eleven. Different game then, Also studied colour photography with John Vickers ( The Old Vic
of Photography ) he used to photograph all the stage sets in the west end. John was a master of lighting technigues and spent most of his time discussing the finer colours of the red wine he was drinking. Terry and his then wife Anne lived two doors away from me in Lisle Street, the house he lived in had some illusrtious charachters live there: Dickie Dawson who married Diana Dors, Bill Maynard the comedian and last but not least
Teddy Green who played Sam Welller in Pickwick. This was before Lisle Street became Chinatown and was famous for Army Surplus stores and
brothels, the girls were still on the street then as the laws didn't change until 1957. Very colourful time and amazing memories.

Nice posts sid... like your calm well written style that elegantly bats aside all the young stars attempts to provoke.

Its a shame that they have to wait to get old to gain wisdom and engage brain before mouth...

ridic post

It's not about provoking. It's about questioning a service that's a bit of a joke.

If anyone can't see that then sorry for them

To Greekstine: You hit it right on the nail - Life's a bit of a joke - unfortunately it's taken too seriously, the only way to approach it is to ensure you do the best for the one's you love. ~Always put them first - you will never regret it. You never realise what anyone is worth until you lose them, so kiick on, and enjoy every minute of it, you're a fool if you dont!

No, I'm not the photographer - the girlfriend is.

I'm just that bloke at his keyboard in the pic that Woodsey posted.  I was born in Leeds though.

Dear Mr. Greekstine, pleased to hear you gave up weightlifing and moved to Marathon Running> I myself am 5ft 11 at the age of 65 - now amazingly I was 5ft 9in two years ago. You might ask - how did this come about - Well, I had my hip replaced and recovered the two inches I lost.
Now as for me being a crap poker player - that is common knowledge - all of my good play has always been down to other people's bad beats. I've never regarded myself as a professional - just a lucky amateur that enjoys the game. At the moment I swim in the sea every day - my friend Martin Green will verify that for you = as you might think I'm taking the mick + I am in training to swim the channel - which is dogged by problems because of the E U's laws on shipping lanes. ~What you have to understand is that I stop people going on tilt - in essence I get to the root of their fear and help them to overcome it. Steve Chauchan does it in the states - I do it over here - the little success I have had in poker has come through good humour - and luck -  As for my clients - they are happy and I leave it to them to decide what they are going to pay - it works out well as I decided some time ago, I wasn't taking anything with me and had enough money to get through. Le't be realistic I'm a coffin dodger and I  know it. Hope you do well with youir marathon running -  Drink a pint and a half of beetroot juice every day, as this has been proven to increasre any athletes stamina by 15 per cent without them doiing any extra training. If your friend Richard is at day 2 tomorrow let him make himself known to me and I will give him a copy of my book  The Truth About Food  to give you- will help you in your training. Don't go over doing it, that was my mistake 40 years ago - and how I injured the hip.  ~All the very best -  think I might have to give up this chat thing - as it could become addictive.

Can you provide a link to any studies that has 'proven' the 15% increase in athletes' stamina when they drink a pint and a half of beetroot juice every day?  Sounds interesting...

lolz.. i think you mistake the service sid is offering. It seems he offers to coach a person on their capabilities  to deal with the mental troughs and peaks of the game rather than how to play Jacks op to a raise and a call. perhaps akin to a sports psychologist who are often used to put athletes in the correct frame of mind. Whether he is qualified or not would be down to the individual and whether they felt they were benfitting from it. I don't think he is out to con anyone as you seem to imply. You seem a little quick to damm Cos you are entitled to your opinion of course...just doesnt neccesarily make you right. Its already obv that Sid has had a colourful life full of interesting experiences and he brings this to the debate in a calm non confrontational manner and has frankly pwned your soul.  Smiley

P.S I think Sid built his own website...lolz

you don't think a person can be taught how to deal with situations from a mental and psychological point of view ? and they cant be judged by someone else as to thier capabilities to be taught in such a way...?
