This list is not meant to be exhaustive, if you think you should be on it and aren't, it's not personal

but look at the number of 19-25+ year olds tearing it up in live biggies for UK Poker

In no order

Toby Lewis

Jake Cody

Matt Perrins

J P Kelly

James Keys

The Hit Squad of Akenhead, Carl, Praz etc

Sam Trickett

(Flushy is too old  Kiss )

Is the emergence of all of these players and more (lets include Middleton and Eames and Houghton and Brammer who surely must be amongst the next ones...) in one period of less than three years coincidence?

Could we have said the same of one era throwing up Channing, Thew etc 10-15 years ago?

If it isn't coincidence, what factors are at play here?

I would suggest

- quick and thorough groundings online, that give them experience way beyond the years it would take to get such, live alone that previous talented generations did not have

- Generally mathematical/Professional backgrounds. By and large these lads don't come from gambling/betting backgrounds

- This gives them, generalising, level heads and bankroll skills.

Anything else?

Your thoughts please.

they can't be, that would mean I have to include Flushy.

Anyway, Liv yes, Pab too

You know the sort of names....I'm asking    "why?"

I would say there is certainly a community aspect to this, all these lads are friends with each other and presumably discuss strategy non stop with each other. Plus you have blonde/blackbelt etc Everyone is the M1 away from each other and the big fessies, its easy for everyone to travel round together etc.

Then you have all the affordable deepstack events in the Uk which are a good proving ground

Also you dont pay tax on gambling in the UK, which must make it easier for young wippersnappers to turn pro.

But mainly I would say its Tikays advice on Sky Poker, and the Deans books.

 Oh to be 20 again....

It certainly helps being young free and single.

Once you score big/get some backing, there nothing to stop you travelling the live big event circuit.....the ball has started to roll.

Plus nowadays playing online anywhere anytime,  practicing your skills, making more money, qualifing for events.....all with no fear.

Good luck to them.

The main quality all those guys posess is fearlessness. They don't mind bubbling or going bust holding pestes as long they make the correct play.

They don't even consider laddering, they just make the best EV decision at all times.

Very impressive.

One thing I will say about all these "kids" is they really have a good head on their shoulders.

Jake, Toby, Pez, eames, Flushy, Bas, Middy etc- all top blokes. not really leading a "balla" lifestyle but having fun and all really nice guys.

also incred tekkers (whatever the fuck they are)
