This 's***' Newcastle side, with 5 games to go, has already won more top flight points than ANY Sunderland side since 1949/50. 62 years have gone by since Sunderland had a team anywhere near as good as this.

Pretty sure Newcastle's defeat at Carrow Road was mainly influenced by the fact you didn't have a fit centre back and you couldn't defend any crosses going into the box. You would have struggled with Messi playing up front that day.

Hmmm hard fact to compare and contrast with the top flight having 42 games a season til the mid 90's and even more importantly only 2 points for a win till the late 70's. Sunderland finished 4th in 54-55 for example with what be the equivalent of 63 points today. Which ironically is the same season Newcastle last won a domestic trophy Wink

Poker has taking a front seat again in my life after losing a little passion for it around a month or so ago. Here is a schedule I've just wrote for my newest student. Hopefully can move him from a -2bb loser to a 5bb+ winner.

Andrew and I are both going away at different times for the next couple of weeks and we agreed that with the development plan that we both want to work on it would be best to work when we can do lots of intense sessions close together.

We have done a quick holdem manager review and these are the first observations

- Relatively tight at the moment (21/16)
- Losing alot at non showdown
- Winning alot at showdown

Plans to improve win rate

- Increase vpip/pfr from c/o and button to improve non showdown winnings
- Increase 3bet
- Adopt some of Patrick's style into Andrews
- Implementing the above will mean a different change of game plan and thus a reaction from regs meaning we will have to study how to adjust quickly vs quick adjustments that regs will make

Next Steps:

1) Theory session. Work on a new HUD.     30/4
Talking about why winning from the button and sb is so important (currently losing a lot from the blinds so need to make up from elsewhere whilst trying to minimize losses from blinds)

2) Patrick does sweat session with Andrew and  2/5
Before trying to adopt any huge changes to the overall approach we need to make sure there are no very basic errors such as bet sizing and positional awareness

3) Follow up session going through all of the hands that we marked  45 mins  4/5
Andrew will mark hands that relate to our theory session that were played in the session and we will go through them in a quick follow up session

4) Andrew will sweat Patrick  45 mins  8/5
Because alot of things that I preach are already implemented in my game such as aggressiveness from later positions, I want Andrew to understand from watching and picking up things from me and questioning anything that doesn't make sense

5) Go over session  45 mins  10/5
We will do a follow up on the session and I will pick some hands and go deep into them talking about why I chose to do the desired action and then talk about correct adjustments and readjustments

6) Quick follow up
Andrew will play independently as normal and mark as many hands as possible. We will then go through them in a quick follow up session that will be a little bit of a catch up session after the intense 10 days "boot camp" that we will do before

7) Long sweat session with little talking from Patrick seeing how style has changed
I will watch Andrew playing a 1-2hr session seeing how naturally the progression has came form a 21/16/6 to a 27/23/10. We will then look at ways to improve further (I assume playing from the blinds) and hopefully lock up a very successful study month

Ok, so I moved over to Microgaming from Ongame as cba with the Ongame regs who just never give action.

Grinded my absolute bollocks off this week, but in 15k hands which is a decent whack and had gd results.

Think its one of my best ever weeks playing solely cash, all winnings from 200-400nl

Really happy that my non showdown line is so good too, previously I fought for too many pots and thought every pot was mine, now I only think like this about 90% of the time, I know you may think this sounds stupid, but I'm deadly serious.

Fml lol. It was Ian Fraser who I have some previous against when I knocked him out of the gukpt in Blackpool a couple of years back. He was trying to be table captain and in 75% of the pots. It folds to me on the button and I look down at    (Toby Jason is number 2 son.  is Alister James is number 1 son so along with  which is Jake Kiyonari number 3 son obv a little bit fond of these hands) knowing full well he will be 3 betting me here with any two. The fact he was at the top of his range with  is irrelevant to me. When I flat his 3 bet for 10k more ( I had 195k and he had 65k at the start of the hand ) I am looking to take the piss out of him ip.  When I flop top two and he checks I am pretty convinced he is checking with a plan to jam his 45k over my c bet so I just flicked in 15k and got him to jam with his middle pin.

Both Ben and Tom thought I should have folded to his 3 bet but when you have previous with someone then meta game becomes a big factor and if I am playing any of my sons hands then i ways back em up.

I don't think I got lucky in that situation and knew full well his ego would let him down.

Grand little story, & explanation!

Action justified, gotta play the "son's hands"!
