Today was a little frustrating, had a bunch of unfortunate stuff happen, but whatever, wasnt a total brick afterall.

At the end of most sessions we always decide to crossbook the 50 turbo or 30 turbo or x% of the turbo hundo on full tilt. We only do top 3 counts and it gets a pretty big sweat sometimes, but none of us have ever scooped.

This week I got to the last 4 as chiplead and the dynamics are just crazy!!

Seat 9: pads1161 (big blind) showed [Ah ] and lost with a pair of Eights

This is generally a very easy jam pre as hes 2/4 and has to fold so much. However me finishing 3rd is so so so bad as i dont get any crossbooks and theres a few of us in the whole thing. Me coming 4th here is one of the biggest icm mistakes I would have ever made.

I just couldnt fold though as its such a good spot. So i 3bet as he has to fold so much.

He peels and my whole house is like wowwww, they know I have a8o and they are like woooowwwww.

I jam and he calls and they are like wowwwwwwwwwww

River is disgusting and I end up in 4/4 very short.

So, so brutal. First would have been significantly more than 4th. Pretty sick.

Anyway, i somehow finished in 3rd and got the extra pay day too.

Pretty fun.

Been a really interesting 10 days or so, perhaps finding out about myself, perhaps finding about about my future motivation in poker, I'm unsure.

For the first 6 months of this year I've really really grinder a lot. I wrote a post about avoiding distractions and being the best and I do believe in it. I turned down a lot of chances of good nights out in favour to reg the big22 etc. Over the last 19 days or so I've kinda lost all motivation, being number 3 feels cool and I would want to be number 1 but my desire 10 days ago was way higher than now. I'm kinda content just grinding in Sundays and Tuesdays for the summer, especially whilst the World Cup is on and learning PLO throughout the week (anybody who knows me knows that I want to move into PLO once I'm bored of tournaments, similarity to the cash->mtt transition)

It's just a really really great atmosphere in budapest right now, we have an amazing group of friends here and I'm 100% sure we will be having a way better time here than we would be in Vegas.

I've been living with two grinders for the last 6 months but decided to move into a place by myself now. I really like the place, it's on the river next to some amazing restaurants, has a nice bedroom/barroom/grinding area and generally just seeing myself being happy there.

A lot of the high stakes cash/PLO guys come back to live in budapest from June inwards meaning our group dinners get significantly bigger and nights out significantly messier.

Have had some ridiculous nights out recently, way too much to go into detail but some random cliffs that I can remember

-> giving a magician a 200$ free roll to do 100 press ups (he got 38 but was bit sweat when he went past 30)
-> giving the same magician a bunch if free rolls such as eating the ace of spades (whole card) (successful), eating the rest if the pack (over confident) ((unsuccessful))
-> 12 man meal at Michelin star restaurant here where Adam picken and I are heads up in the dinner flip with a bunch of free parking and he moans it in obv
-> watching the brazil game in huge park packed with Brazilians with huge carnival atmosphere.
-> multiple back to back birthdays
-> unsuccessful attempts at being my house beer pong champion

There's two things I'd really like to buy in the next couple of days. 1) a really nice tv that I can want to watch, use for DVDs, use to play FIFA and 2) a nice watch. I have a watch I use day to day which is from a close friend and significant to me but I'd really like a nicer watch too. Nothing stupid like a 10k Rolex or anything but just a watch that I would keep, for multiple years rather than just forgetting about/losing after 6 months.

Also anybody who knows me properly will say I'm the pickiest eater they've ever met, one thing off the list and that I have a lot now is Indian food. The takeaway service in budapest is really great and there's two restaurants that deliver really late that do Indian food that are very nice. One thing from the restaurant that I had yesterday was vichysoisse rabbit meatloaf souf, it really was pretty bad, I can't ever remembering having a cold soup that I really liked, to compensate we ate beef cheek. I've never tried it before but it's quickly rose to one of my favorite meats and will definitely go again.

It's Sunday today and very weirdly, I'm just not feeling it. I just feel like if I grind today it won't be a good session, I woke up at 5am so will be pretty tired later and I have to move out of this apartment tomorrow. Definitely won't do a kickoff+ schedule but May late reg the warm up and go from there.

Last tuesdayni cashed the Super Tuesday after coming back from Marbella, this week I played it too. 4 from the money I had this really sick hand

I'm then in the pure bubble and have this super super tough spot, I'm the short stack in the tournament but I have no fold equity and the sb and bb will always come along. Was so so close.

Managed to squeeze our way in somehow anyway!

I wouldn't feel bad. Just seems like a natural bit of burnout but would only get worse if you try to grind through it. You have had a great year so far. Not only do you deserve a break but it will probably have good impacts on your game and more importantly your health and social life.

Hit me up on Skype for some PLO chat.

yeh +1 Cos, poker high intense game, when you're under it you really have no choice to play even when you're not 100% feeling it, when you're having a very successful year and have literally PILED the hours in as you are/have, then take a break and chill when you don't feel it.

I go off for a couple of weeks at a time and whenever I come back takes me 1 session to get back into the swing then I'm usually playing my very best pretty quickly.

Defo up for some small stakes HU games and comparing notes afterwards, my HU needs a lot of work and we can talk PLO till the cows come home Smiley

I wrote a blog called "Every 6 months" where I for once critique my performance off the felt rather than on it.

I’m almost cringing reading all of the above, I’m sure that all of this is so ridiculously standard for everybody, but hey, hopefully I will look back and think think that July 14th (note mid month, even if its a Monday!!) was the start of me being better in all forms of life rather than looking back at a random blog from July and seeing how much money I made

Top stuff.
